Georgetown University Admissions

Georgetown has been asking for my tax return so they can put together a financial aid package. Does this mean I’m in?!

When

@nsliyromanov They only recently contacted me after I applied months ago.

No, it does not mean you are in. Those deciding admissoin are not those who are dealing with financial aid, and those dealing with financial aid need a completed fiancial aid file on all applicants to be able to have a financial aid award ready to go for whomever is admitted, and this is the time of the year when the finanical aid group begins to contact applicants to remind them of what still has to be submitted if the office does not have it already.

Based on my son’s experience last year, not with Georgetown though, it is a positive sign when you are asked for tax returns. He were accepted by all the schools who asked for this. And none of the schools that rejected him asked for it.

Georgetown claims to be need blind, right? So FA would indeed be a separate process from admissions, as @drusba points out. (So they say and I’m not quite cynical enough to disbelieve it.) At need-aware or need-sensitive schools, I would think this kind of request to be a good sign but with need-blind Georgetown I wouldn’t necessarily think so.
