Georgetown University Class of 2022 EA Applicants Thread

Hang in there! Your resume sounds wonderful! Who know how these schools pick students - sometimes it seems they pick names out of a hat!

deferred from southern california. ACT: 34, GPA: 4.2, lots of EC’s and go to a top high school

We are in Maryland and my daughter’s letter came yesterday.

She was deferred.

SAT
Math: 730 Reading: 730
Top 10% of class
Lot of APs including Stats, Calc
but…VERY weak extracurriculars

Thought she had the numbers to get in, but alas, as seen here and in talking to parents of current students, it is more than just the numbers.

i forgot - 10 AP’s as well

MD mail FINALLY arrived. She’s in. SFS. GPA nearly all As, one B+ 9th grade. 5s on 6 APs (did not report the 3 on the other). SAT M 800 ENWR 760. ACT 34 soph year. School pres. Class pres. Head of math club. Head of choir. Dorm proctor. 3 season athlete, multiple terms as a co captain. Jobs every summer. Thankful she has a great option.

I just wish I can get in rd.

@justliviglife, itwas a close game. Hope its not an omen. Lol. To those deferred, hang in there. Still hope in RD.

@dowzerw How did she not report 3 of her APs? When you send in APs, you can’t do it individually. It’s all on one report.

Accepted!!!
1550 SAT, 36 superscore Act, 800 math level 2, 690 LIT, 680 Spanish
5.17/5 GPA
6 week internship at a nonprofit
4 week immersion at middle bury
4 weeks living in the dominican republic
3 week class at Columbia
Head of 4 different clubs
Head of 2 service projects
Student council member
3x Varsity Athlete

Congrats dowzerw. Well done. No doubt the wait was worth it!

no letter received on Long Island

Nothing in MA…

@dowzerw I only ask because I didn’t send in APs because of that exact issue. I didn’t do well on 2 and I didn’t want that to affect my chances. I tried sending individually, but College Board and several counselors told me they won’t send individually.

I’m in Virginia and got deferred yesterday. Definitely upsetting because it was my top choice, but I understand that EA is super competitive. I have a 3.99 UW GPA, 1540 SAT, 5 AP’s (all but 1 are 5’s) and am doing the IB Diploma programme. EC’s are nothing special: lots of volunteering, band, MUN, programming club, fast-food job, BPL internship, social media manager for a club, and honor societies (French HS and NHS). I thought my essays and interview were good but I waived my right to see any recs. I’m still going to do everything I can to get in RD, but I doubt that will happen since someone else at my school got in and Georgetown has NEVER accepted more than 1 student from my school (I know they don’t have strict quotas, but still). I understand the decision - my scores are okay but I don’t particularly stand out … was counting on my writing and humor skills in the essays but I guess that wasn’t good enough. It also may of hurt that I am Asian. I know I have nobody to blame but myself, but it sucks that I missed out on this opportunity.

@caligirl117 where in socal?

@iwanttogetintocollege I know it stings but there is still hope and you will end up at a great school that is the right fit for you. Your scores are much better than “just ok” and you have a lot of extracurriculars. All the best to you.

Deferred in Illinois :frowning: 46 cent postage stamp.
33 ACT,
1500 SAT,
Submitted all three SAT II and got around 650 on all.
2nd in command of ROTC, Vice President of DECA

4.5 weighted gpa, good interview and essays.

Congrats to everyone!! Nothing in Houston again but hoping for Monday

Anyone in New England get there letters yet?!? No one at my school in Connecticut has gotten theirs yet! Getting concerned!

Anyone in NC get letters today ?
