Georgetown University Class of 2022 EA Applicants Thread

Deferred. Found out through the app. 33 ACT 99.5 GPA 720 Bio 710 Chem 760 US History Harvard summer school intern for politicians captain of tennis. On team for 5 years. Varsity soccer. Good letters of rec and essay

@Egrills89 Sorry to hear

@jckjck the portal has no correlation to your decision.

From Hawaii, called and got in!

Stats, for those who care:
SAT: 1490
SAT II’s: 690, 680, 690
GPA 3.87 *UW
Internship at prosecutors’ office for two years
Internship for Senator Schatz
OK essays
Recommendations from the prosecutor and a teacher who is also a good friend.
My counselor probably wrote a killer rec.
EC’s: Model UN, Mock Trial
Lots of mixed martial arts outside of school (wrote an essay about wrestling that people thought was pretty good)

It really pains me when someone with high test scores doesn’t get in! Good luck to y’all, if you didn’t hear back already!

@silverlemon You’re right that there are definitely many factors that go into the decisions, but Georgetown is one of the few schools that doesn’t look at things like legacy/alumni ties at early… same with athletic recruitment. That’s part of why the EA admission rate is lower than RD at GU - they don’t look at any of those ‘tip’ factors. Just fyi!

@808hawaiiboi Congrats!! Which school were you accepted into?

@dehcollege2017 Interesting. I wonder what the “tip” factors are for the 12% accepted… Wouldn’t we all like to know lol

how do you find out through the app???

@raymatta I believe they were referring to the Informed Delivery function on the USPS website. It scans your mail so you can see the postage of the letter.

informed delivery shows me a 67 center does that mean i am getting in?

@angtocollege Yes CONGRATS!

General comments

@angtocollege It does!!

Got deferred in the Bay Area! Was expecting it, but still really sad.

For those who called, what identifying information did the admissions office ask for in order to give you the decision?

They ask for Name, address, and DOB.

I called twice and no one answered… the suspense is killing me

Deferred
31 ACT 4.28 W GPA.
Have taken all AP’s that my school offers (8)
School doesn’t rank but I am top 10%
Trio-Season athlete, student government, student advisory council, several missions trips, started an organization that sends soccer equipment to kids in Haiti.
Very good essays and interview

Georgetown was the most prestigious school I applied to, so deferral was not unexpected

Did they transfer everyone to an admissions officer or did whoever answer the phone give you the decision?

Accepted from Broward County Florida. Extremely excited!
