Georgetown University Early Action 2014

congrats to everyone who got in!
are international applications getting emails on the 15th??
so nervous…

I’m in Chicago…so no word until Monday or Tuesday! Congrats to those accepted, and good luck to everyone else!

Not a student here, but a parent whose son was accepted to Georgetown EA last year. The envelope was normal-sized. I watched while my son opened it, and when the blue paper fell out (housing), I knew he was in. Georgetown was his first-choice school back then, so it was very exciting!

Unfortunately, the financial aid award letter didn’t arrive until the first week in April. : - p

Do you guys think somebody in NY would get the letter Monday or Tuesday?

I would think NY would be Monday along with NJ/PA/etc. but if not what’s one more day? The sooner the better I guess. It would have been nice to get the whole thing off my mind today though because I have a ton of work to do and can’t even begin to think about it.

oh my god i cant believe this is finally happening…ill probss get mine monday but all of these deferred statistics are making me nervous…congrats to everyone who got in

Yeah, everyone here seems like they are overqualified. The people that were deferred have amazing stats, so the more I read these stats, the more nervous I get. I’m guessing I’m probably deferred.

haha representing RI and IMPATIENTLY awaiting a letter!!

I know this has no impact on my app now, but…
will my grades keep me out? I have a 94 (about a 3.8) unweighted as the result of 2 non-A’s in chem and math sophomore year, and everyone who has been accepted so far seems to have a 4.0 uw.

ahh, and im a hispanic from NY applying to the FLL, so who knows

Is there really such a thing as ‘overqualified’??

I’m praying that the admissions committee went easier on me 'cause I applied to the Nursing and Health School (don’t want to be a nurse [international health major]). haha, MONDAY, can’t wait.

well, at georgetown, I guess there’s no overqualified.
Concerning regions, I think the northeast has a good chance of getting in, because there’s only 11% coming from the northeast.

Are asians at a disadvantage?

@sprevite

What part of RI are you from? I’m in Middletown. I applied to SFS

^we are twins, I also applied for international health and am a brown legacy. :)

i’m from Providence (I go to lasalle). i’m brown legacy too!

Dude, Asians are almost always at a disadvantaged…something called an overrepresented minority.

I am so nervous and excited for all of y’all. Good luck!

haha. being asian has its perks.

pf. i’m an asian female, deferrrred.

ahhh im sorry! im an asian female too ( well south asian) and I always hear crap about “reverse discrimination” especially if you come from a school with a large asian population as I do… and EVERYONE from my school who applied to GU is asian -_____- I’m feeling pretty crappy right now after looking at everyones stats. People who got deferred who had MUCH better stats than me. I’m not sure how much they care about ECs… i have good ECS and essays but my scores are kind of mediocre…

Oh, and I’m from NJ. Do you think I’ll get it by monday? I have to stay after school tuesday for MUN ( yay? i know GU is big on MUN) and that means i’ll come home much later than usual :frowning: I dont think I can wait.
