I am so beyond anxious to hear… I applied to the SFS for International Poitics and it is my absolute #1 choice… I really really really hope i get in.
Just got email - releasing decisions at 6pm EST on Wednesday Dec 15
Sooooo nervous
Good luck everybody!
Not to prolong your anxiety, but the 15th is Thursday. Good luck!
Ahh you are correct - my bad.
I don’t know what I’m going to do if I don’t get in…
I know how stressful it is. But here’s something really important to remember: Georgetown is not like other EA or ED decisions. They take only the very very top students in this EA round, believe me. Everyone I know who was admitted to Georgetown–and I know quite a few–including two children there–were deferred in EA and admitted RD. So, fingers crossed for good news on Thursday, but either way, it is not the end of the road. Good luck!
Thank you. I poured my heart and soul into my essays and resume for Georgetown, and am hoping it all pays off. If not, I know that I still have a good shot in RD and will continue hoping
So today is the day. Six o’clock is a long way away. I did get an informed delivery notice from the post office and there is a letter from Georgetown Admissions coming today. So do you think they send a letter and notify on portal?
Quite possibly. From what I have read, it seems they only started informing applicants online during the pandemic. Sounds promising!
Yes. When I was accepted early action in 2020, I was notified online and received a letter a couple days later. From what I’ve heard, everyone received the same size letter whether it was an acceptance or deferral, so not many indicators there.
Question to you as an accepted early action applicant - in your opinion does the average Georgetown student get accepted in early action? Everyone is telling us that early action is only for the extremely select, and I’m not sure if that means recruited athletes, legacy, etc. Just wondering.
It’s an interesting debate. Personally, I had legacy, but also think my stats fit in the top 25% of accepted students. From my graduating class, 3 other people who applied early and had legacy all got in, but another who did not and had great stats was also accepted. However, in previous years, I know people with legacy who got deferred, and students with no legacy but who were great candidates were accepted early. Not sure if that really helps, but as mentioned before in this thread, a deferral is certainly not the end of the road.
Where do you live? Close to DC? Wondering how long a letter would have taken to get to you if they mailed it on the 13th.
It was postmarked Dec 13. I live in NC.
Interesting if they are also mailing out the decisions… anyone received anything by post so far?
Our mail came (Maryland) and my DS was admitted!
Congratulations! Is the portal also updated for you?
Congratulations! So exciting!
Congratulations!! great news
Not sure - he’s not home and isn’t able to check from his phone. But since the letters went out on the 13th I assume they just decided not to update the portal till 6 pm.
