Georgetown University Fall 2016 Transfer Thread

Are transfer decisions usually like this?

almost lost the hope… I thought this week was going to be it…
And i have a feeling that they sent out the acceptances today
I wish every single applicant was on this thread, so I can at least make sure the numbers :frowning:

I was accepted into the college! I was supposed to receive the email on Monday, but there was a problem with my email so I didn’t receive it until today. Stay positive everyone!

Congrats @Hoyahopeful2016 ! Can you post your stats so other applicants can get a feel for how they compare?

@olivergr I’m a nontraditional student so I am probably not the best person to compare to! I am still shocked I got into my dream school!

Accepted to college - Government major
Transferring from a community college in Alabama

No SAT/ACT scores as I graduated over 5 years ago

Serve on the Youth Advisory Council for Americans United for Separation of Church & State based in Washington, D.C.

Interned at Legal Services Alabama and the South Alabama Center for Fair Housing

My personal essay focused on how I went from being homeschooled and receiving my GED to graduating summa cum laude from community college with an A.A.S. in paralegal studies. I wrote about how my dream is to eventually become a public interest lawyer specializing in constitutional law & civil liberties and transferring to Georgetown would be the next step in achieving that goal.

I had great letters of recommendation from my paralegal instructor, the Dean of my college, and the alumni admissions officer who interviewed me.

@Hoyahopeful2016 Congratulations! I’m really happy to hear you got in!

@Hoyahopeful2016 Wow! That’s really exciting! Congrats again. It sounds like Georgetown will be a perfect fit for you

Thanks! Fingers crossed for all of you.

good luck to everyone this week!

If I hear nothing this week it’ll be a turning point. The investment and the debt isn’t worth it at my current institution, so I may abandon the prospect of business school altogether - it’s really only justified if I’m at a top tier school. I may just cut my losses and go into my family business and finish my degree at a community college for it’s own sake.

Georgetown is hunting for Unicorns, wunderkind that they can show off, extraordinary types, I think I’m just too average by their standards to be one of the extremely successful and unique marquee talents selected this year.

To those who do tout the ever elusive golden horn of prestige, circumstance, inhuman hard work or overcoming great adversity, I salute you and wish you the best.

For the second, and very likely last time,

Shackleton out

melodramatic^^^ we all knew coming into this that about 1 in 10 students get accepted. even if you’re a top tier student there’s a chance that admissions doesn’t see you as the right fit for GU. From your previous posts, it seems that the only school you applied to was Georgetown…why?

Alright Captain Pragmatism, you get your letter yet

^woah dude chill, no need to get feisty on a cc feed. we’re all just hoping for the best

Did they reply to anyone’s email. I’ve been waiting one week now…

@Aman365 What did you email about?

does anyone know when the next wave of admissions will be out around?

@keurimja I emailed about an expedited decision but I didn’t directly ask for one. I just asked for an “updated status” because of deadlines.

@CJCregg2016 @UtopianFlorist Yeah, i asked for an expedited notification

Georgetown’s admissions process is broken. They need to clean it up and become more transparent.

@neoscarecrue but then how would we all experience such a wonderfully stressful waiting period without any idea of wth is going on???
