@Kraz4CocoPuffs the application deadline was march 1st, so they would email you now most likely if any documents were missing because they can’t start reviewing your application without all documents. I say you’re fine, but if you’re really that nervous about it, you should call admissions and ask if all documentation was received
Just had my alumni interview yesterday and I think it went pretty well! Well, everything has been submitted so crossing my fingers and hoping for the very best!
If we haven’t been contacted about an interview yet, is it likely we won’t be getting one?
@Kraz4CocoPuffs Not sure, but I haven’t gotten one either. I submitted my app mid-February.
Hey guys, applying for a transfer here, I wanted to know my chances so please feel free to let me know. Here my are specs:
Currently a freshman at the University of Toronto (I’m American) double majoring in Econ and IR. Trying to get into Georgetown College to study Political Econ.
High School GPA: 2.7 out of 4 (Personal Issues)
SAT Score: 1860
AP: Human Geo: 4
U.S History: 5
Current GPA: 3.6/3.7 if finals go right, but given our grade deflation system it’s much harder to get a good gpa at UofT so probably a 3.77 or a 3.8 in most American universities (btw does anyone know if Gtown takes difficulty into consideration when it comes to GPA? like the colleges that made it hard to get a high gpa compared to the ones that made it easy to get a 4.0 ?)
Didn’t apply for financial aid
University Specs and EC’s
Got into a selective first-year program that’s absolutely great. Got an amazing rec out of it because the professor really like a research proposal I wrote and invited me to go to a IR conference in Atlanta. Currently working on getting it published sometime after summer. Great research opportunities cause of this program.
Started my own non-profit this year and it’s based in Boston. It’s for low-income families that can’t afford to hire college prep services for common app and other applications. Currently in a development phase as I’m working on making a business plan and a operations plan for a potential local sponsor
Interning for a local rep at the Massachusetts State House this summer or possibly in the offices of a MA Senator if my interview goes well
T.A for a hindu philosophy class during senior year of high school. I taught the class when the teacher was away
Doing Model UN since 10th grade of high school. I’ve won many awards and have been part of some best small delegations. (Part of the traveling team at UofT and my high school)
Crisis Analyst (conference staff) for UofT’s model un conference. I did a lot of research for this for our background guides
Spokesperson and Communication manager for a charity club during my senior year in high school and a 3 year member of this group for which I went to Harvard Square every friday to feed the homeless
Part of UofT’s Public speaking club and Outdoors Club
Floor Treasurer for my Dorm Housing
Involvement in Quizbowl for a year in high school
To be honest, after looking at other people’s specs, I can see why Gtown has such a low transfer acceptance rate. Damn you guys have an impressive set of accomplishments. Goodluck!
Hey guys, I am also applying for Fall Sophomore Transfer to MSB from a large state school, and I want another opinion.
@Jacob4815162342 or anyone else that can provide input

Trilingual (Mandarin, Latin, English)

sent letter of interest saying how this is the only school I am applying transfer to, and that I will go no matter what if i get in
@trochaic good move sending the letter of interest now rather than later. I waited until I was put on the extended wait list to finally write a letter of continued interest.
@Jacob4815162342 @Trochaic i thought Georgetown does not keep track of interest? Do you recommend I send one also?
I looked it up and Georgetown does not keep track of letters of interest. They get lost in the application and just become irrelevant. This link helped me:
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/georgetown-university/1848275-letter-of-interest-after-deferral.html
We still scratch our heads and believe that a strong letter of recommendation was the differentiator for our son.
Gtown does a great job of assimilating transfers. Friends came from similarly ranked colleges…Cal, NYU, Cornell.
Just had my alumni interview this weekend and i think I went amazing. wasn’t like an interview at all for me. My interviewer and I had so much in common and ended up talking for almost two hours.
I submitted my Apps in December for anyone who’s curious.
anyone in the DC area that got an alumni interview?
@hershey789 I’m in DC and haven’t gotten an alumni interview, a little disappointing, but maybe there is still time!
Anyone else applied to SFS-Q as well and has to make a decision?
Qatar said I have to reply sometime in April but I’m afraid the main campus’ results won’t be out by then.
I’m also a sophomore at AU, so if anyone can help me figure this out…
@chubwagon @lexlie1760 i see we are all trying to get away from AU haha
but im glad to hear I am not the only one that got no alumni interview request
@hershey789 AU’s fine but I just thought maybe I could do better
@chubwagon @lexlie1760 @hershey789 I’m from AU too! I didn’t get an interview yet either… I really hope we do because there are a few things that could add to my application that happened after the deadline to submit it. @lexlie1760 that’s exactly the way I feel haha!
Hello everyone,
I’m a current senior at high school (international student in the USA) and I am considering transferring to Georgetown university from community college. I really need all of your opinions and help! Both of my parents do not know about college process so I was wondering if I can get help/suggestions from here.
Due to financial aid problem, I am going to cc first but I know it is extremely hard for cc students to go to top schools like Georgetown university; is that true? Do you think it’s hard for cc students to go to top universities?
Also, what was the hardest factor/process that you have experienced while preparing for transferring to Georgetown?
Is the sat still the biggest factor for transfer students?
What specific things do they look for when selecting transfer students?
Thank you very much for reading my long comment. Please feel free to pm me or comment below - I will greatly appreciate it!
While I can answer what was the hardest factor/process, your best bet for the other questions would probably be a Transfer Admissions Dean at Georgetown (To be honest, they may genuinely love the fact that you’re reaching out so early! It never hurts to send an email and make a connection with them!)
The application isn’t hard or challenging in my opinion. I think if you’re truly motivated to go to Georgetown you’ll be like me and find the application a breeze. I think the hardest thing is just waiting, their official notification date is June 1st, which is kinda late, but not much we can do about that.
does anybody know of students who got accepted for transfer the second time they applied after being on the extended waitlist the first time?
