You probably have a very good chance, especially since you know someone who attended who is willing to recommend you. Strong GPA, scores and extracurriculars, good luck!

Bump

the GPA that matters is your unweighted GPA. I don’t think a 3.5 or 3.6 unweighted GPA is considered competitive in the Georgetown applicant pool. You have an upward trend in your grades but not enough to explain straight Bs freshman year

I have no idea but you’re a good student. If that is your real ACT you will have lots of acceptances. I just wanted to inform you of Common Data Sets. Google “Georgetown Common Data Set” and you’ll see the stats for admitted students. It works for all schools except I’ve never found them for Yale.

Where does a 4.2 fall at your school? That is the real important question. Where do you rank among people who have been accepted/rejected from Georgetown from your high school? You have great everything except grades, but nothing makes up for bad grades unfortunately. You said, though, that your school only sends weighted, so I am curious.

@jarrett211 My school doesn’t do class rank either (strange, huh?) but I know a 4.2 GPA puts me in the top 15ish% of my class.

@Alex99 That probably won’t cut it unfortunately. It’s not impossible, but it’s highly unlikely.

I’ve noticed Georgetown is a bit unusual for highly selective schools in that they seem to be more forgiving of a <3.8 GPA if the rest of the app is strong.

You’re class rank won’t get you eliminated because * you don’t have one. * It’s impossible for a school to disqualify you based on information they don’t have.

You’re chances aren’t great, but neither are anyone’s at GU.

Everything is great except for the grades-I think that because you mentioned you go to such a competitive school that may give you some lead way. Luckily knowing someone who can recommend you so strongly is super helpful. I’d say it’s a reach-but definitely not impossible! Good luck!

I applied with around similar stats higher GPA (not by much though), subject tests, but a lower ACT (again not by much). I think you have a decent chance at admission especially if the recommendation is strong that could be a major positive for you. Just know a deferral EA is likely due to GPA as it is actually harder to get in EA than RD best of luck!

So let’s say I get deffered to RD…

If I could get the GPA up to 3.6-3.65 UW/ 4.25 W after first semester, would this really have an impact?

Yes, getting good grades first semester is always a good thing.
