i got into msb today, over the phone (i called them). i interviewed two weeks ago. i am waiting on other decisions.

BK who did u call?

i called the office early this morning, and the told me that Erin Krivicky was my admissions person. i emailed her and got no response, so i called this afternoon and was told she wasn't in today, so they just put me on with someone else, not sure who

Congrats BK!

I've also yet to hear from columbia and JHU, but I still think Gtown is my #1 choice

hey guys! help! if i need to know my decision early, do you think i should email them? do any of you guys know who to email or a sample email?? thanks muchoo

call them...

unfortunately I am "not likely to be accepted" to the college according to the email I got from my admission officer. I called up and asked who my admission officer was. They gave me the GUadmiss email but I just looked up her actual email address on some Gtown database, and then sent her an email explaining how I needed to make housing decisions at my current school. She got back to me very quickly-- just like 8 hours later.

Congrats to all those accepted/ good luck to those waiting to find out.

blackholezz: I would call them and try to ask for the email of your admissions person. Email that person and convey your situation. That's what I did, and she did email me back with my admission offer. However, I actually received the postal mail of my admission that day, so I found out b4 she was even able to reply back.

Don't give up hope landroveraddict! its not over yet, perhaps if you send them your final spring grades...

blackhoelzz, definitely call them! at this point, i honestly dont think they care what your reason is for wanting to know early. i think at this point they realize that we're all just anxious and its been a long time and we just need to know in order to finish out the year, make plans, and start summer. so basically, anyone who wants to know should call/email...theres no reason to feel like you dont have a good enough reason (my reasons were lame and I was able to get an early answer)...good luck to those still waiting, keep us posted

I just got an email from my admissions officer. Saying "not likely that they will be able to offer you admission." I applied to SFS. I still really believe I should have gotten in numerically. I had a 4.0 in high school, a 3.8 last semester and this semester most likely a 3.8-3.9 from GW. My SATs were a little low, CR700 M600, but I still think I should have been fairly competitive.

Does anyone know if it's possible to appeal? I really got to know some of my professors this semester and I feel they would write me a good recommendation. If I sent in my spring grades when they finally come out along with some recommendation could I plead my case? I want to go to Gtown so badly.

thanks you guys ill definitely do that first thing monday

i hope it's good news..

so, i called yesterday, to confirm that they had received my HS transcript. they said that they only just started reviewing my app on Thursday. Unfortunately, my current professors have been a little tough to get a hold of, and they haven't received current grades from all of them. Still, Gtown received a note from my Stern Accounting teacher indicating my grade, and they were "very pleased just to have even that one grade." (my situation is a little unique because i've been in a BFA acting program at NYU Tisch, and while I have high SATs, they're a little concerned about how I'll do in ONLY academics. So, i took an all academic semester this spring to try to prove myself academically.) My admissions officer couldn't be nicer.

i think everyone should be careful about making too many calls. if they contact you (as they did with me), you should definitely follow up. i've tried to limit myself. i called once in april, and again Friday. i know the wait is hard, but please just let them do their job so that we all hear sooner...if you need to get angst out, feel free to express yourself on this page, NOT to the Gtown admissions office several times a day. hahaha

Sorry just reread my post. I got a 680 on the Math not 600.

i would encourage anyone who really wants to / needs to know about their decision to call. i called a little over a week ago because i got this weird offer from nyu and needed to know about other schools right away. they told me i probably wasn't going to be admitted into SFS (actually it was probably the quote that someone cited above)....oh well.

Reddavies, is this your first or second year in college? a lot of schools give priority to junior transfers, just because that's the last chance you have to transfer. if you're a current freshman, i think appealing might be difficult because you could just apply again next year. i have no idea how the appeal process would go at Georgetown, but maybe you could call a college counselor to find out?
Sometimes, a decision will be changed, IF you have new information to show them. My dad helped my sister appeal a UCLA decision, after she got significantly higher grades. She ended up getting in. I know she prepared new rec letters and sent current transcripts. She also had just won some writing award, which helped. If you have new information, or feel that your application didn't give a complete picture of you, I would try to appeal. Gtown will probably tell you not to appeal unless you have very compelling NEW information for them.

sfkef2010 thanks for replying.I'm a freshman so you're probably right and SFS is the hardest school to get into at Georgetown as well. I don't really have new information just a continuation of my same performance. So if they were worried about my continued academic performance that might help. (I did take two years off before going to college, so maybe they were worried somewhat about my ability to stick with things. At least that's all I can think of.)

The more I think about it, my chances of getting them to reverse the decision aren't probably all that great, but if I get on the waitlist I'll definitely pursue that aggressively. I think I'll probably ask if they would be willing to look at my Spring grades and a few extra recommendations because as of yet they haven't technically rejected me - it's still "not likely", not impossible.

If all else fails at least I'll show how committed I am when I apply again next year. (I can't really believe they would penalize me for continuing to try and get in as long as I'm not rude or too aggressive.)

In. MSB.

Call from the pres himself.

I got an email that said the same, and it also said that I may be waitlisted. In other words, I almost definitely will not get in. Nevertheless, I congratulate those of you who were accepted; based off what I heard admissions was very selective this year and those who got in deserve mad props. Take advantage of the tremendous opportunity that you have come this far to receive, and best of luck to you!

*sry. email said "not likely that they will be able to offer you admission"
