Georgetown University Regular Decision Class of 2019 Thread

Rejected from SFS in Rhode Island. Not surprised one bit!

Rejected Central Jersey but we were expecting it…D’s stats don’t compare, although she is technically in their range. Her ACT was actually in range but her SAT’s were not…but she had to send them everything and in the end I’m sure that didn’t help. And her subject tests were not great either…so congrats to all of you amazing students whether or not you got in or not…you all have very bright futures ahead of you! Looks like my D will go to CSOM at BC (got in EA), but the acceptance from U of Southern California is tempting…but might be too far. Good luck everyone!

For those of you who were rejected… Do you mind saying which school you applied to?

Walsh School of Foreign Service

@JoeGoe Mine wasn’t either. Just call and automatically reset it!! Congrats!!

Rejected in TX. Applied to Georgetown College,
Stats currently-
Accepted: BC w/ honors, WASHU, uChicago, Columbia (likely), Brown (likely), UCLA, UC-Berkeley, Claremont McKenna w/ merit scholarship, Duke, UT w/ honors
Waitlisted- Stanford
Rejected- Georgetown

@Daddio3 Thanks for the private message…I have to figure out how to reply directly but your information was extremely extremely helpful. Good luck to your son! Where will he be going? Did he get into Gtown?

@Daddio3 My daughter also applied business to the following and was accepted to Boston College, Richmond, Lehigh, USC, Michigan, Bucknell (got presidential scholarship/fellowship program), Tulane (got money), Miami (presidential), Villanova (invited to apply for Villanova Scholarship). They are all great schools and she wishes she could go to them all but looks like BC is the winner (your message helped!) She is very fortunate and happy with her results! Rejected Wash U. LMK where your son is leaning towards!

Deferred and waitlisted to SFS. So sexy…

I was accepted to Georgetown but waitlisted to Tufts which surprised me. I also was accepted to Duke and got a full scholarship to USC. Still waiting on Harvard Columbia and Penn.

Any advice on choosing between Duke and GU. I want to do politics but I’m from North Carolina. Luckily money isn’t a big issue.

it all seems so arbitrary…i am glad this is my last child going through this process…if i had to do it again, I’d do some serious investigating into how they make these decisions, qualified applicant again and again is either rejected or waitlisted but getting into “higher ranked” schools

The phone calls will be coming today from 6-8, tomorrow from 6-8 and on wednesday from 5-7

Waitlisted at SFS from an EA deferral. Disappointed, as GU has been my dream school, but also kind of expected it. Accepted to Cornell though, so there’s that. How many get waitlisted?

For other people’s reference, I was accepted into the McDonough School of Business

I’m curious how the phone calls go … What do they tell you? Do they try to get you to commit?

Has anyone gotten a call yet?

I am currently making the calls right now I am a student at gtown. We basically say congratulations, why we love georgetown, say why we think you should go and answer any questions.

Do you do the calls by region, name, or is it random?

@collegemomjam, my daughter is a junior so still building a list and planning visits. Who knows, they could end up at CSOM together! Thanks for the help with that. My son is at Northwestern in engineering, so we had a whole different set of schools to consider

Accepted in WA to the School of Foreign Service! 2380 SAT/1580 (CR+M), 4.0 UW. I am so excited - Georgetown has been a dream of mine! Financial aid is a big consideration though, and unfortunately I was not able to submit tax returns until just recently. I am a little worried as to how much that will delay my financial aid package. Has anyone else heard any information about financial aid?
