Georgetown University Transfer 2019

The acceptance rate isn’t that low. They accept a good amount more than available spaces because of the yield rate. There will certainly be more than 100 people accepted

@polyscidreamer it looks like they’re finally doing a portal. They also uploaded decisions to the portal for first year applicants this year (they uploaded them 3 days after they sent the letters).

Also, no it’s not safe to assume rejection. Transfer admissions is done differently than first years. It’s not just the admissions committee, but it’s also deans, professors, and students, according to their website. I imagine this means they finish at different times. Also, in the past, people in the same school have gotten acceptances in different waves. Don’t stress about the time. For GU, the closer it gets to June, the more likely you are denied/waitlisted, however, don’t worry about that now. It’s not even May yet. I’m sure very few decisions have been released, and we’ve only seen one on here thus far

@Ashtash I checked past common data sets and the yield rates are typically around 60% so i don’t think they’d be admitting too many above 100 people… Maybe like 165?

@Ashtash By portal, you mean through our application page? Or a separate portal with a link via email?

@falconic yeah, that’s probably about right. 165 is significantly more than 100, however, at least in my mind. Every individual spot counts

@Mackaylinmarie the application page (the portal we already have access to)

i think they admitted 100 and expect around 60 of those 100 to come to Georgetown

So that’s just a 6% acceptance rate :frowning: definitely drastically lower than in past years ¯_(ツ)_/¯

@falconic it looks like they had 100 spots last year and took 217 - the acceptance rate was 9% last year. It’s low, but it’s better than others, and it’s what I expected

@rish68 they probably admitted more than 200

A lot more people applied this year though, so the acceptance rate will definitely be lower

Hopefully more decisions will come tomorrow. GU seems to send multiple waves in one week

That’s good news then. I guess I’m back in it lol

Isn’t 8:20 pm kind of late in the day to get an email from GU? (He/She posted at 8:29pm, so I assumed it was pm - maybe it was am)

I kind of have a feeling that everyone at the Georgetown admission is working overtime to comb through all the applications

I also got an email at 8:20 pm and was accepted. NHS

I guess any acceptances are going to be at really random times this year…

Also if you got in I think we’d all greatly appreciate it if you are willing to provide stats!

congrats! @Soccer0320

Congrats to those who have been admitted, and best wishes for those that are still waiting.(me included)
Fingers crossed

are the waves done by schools? seems like the first few acceptances are from NHS
