Georgetown University Transfer - Fall 2021

I had been wondering if anyone attended these sessions. It completely slipped my mind to do so. Any other big points they made?

All I really remember is them saying that they heavily consider whether you’re a good fit for the school you applied to, and if you have a demonstrated reason to transfer.

Hmm, something that stuck out to me was that they accepted 20% of transfers last year, but I think last year was out of the ordinary for obvious reasons like COVID. They talked about how they really try to immerse transfers into georgetown and there’s a residential hall specific for transfers. Another thing that stuck out is that the NHS rep said that they really look at STEM classes/experience for prep. Im not an NHS applicant, but that’s something I remember. Take this all with a grain of salt cuz my memory is foggy!

I am assuming we are all super anxious about receiving our results … They wouldn’t come out over the weekend, right? Either way, I can imagine it’s all everyone else has been thinking about as well. It’s officially May so I can imagine things are going to start kicking off. I wish the best luck to all of you! The fact you took time to actively maintenance this page just shows how bad you all want it, so for that reason alone I hope you all get the outcome you desire! Best of luck to you all

Does anyone know if it is true that typically, admitted students are notified the day the admissions committee votes to admit them? I have heard that once or twice. In other words - I’m curious if most of our applications have been reviewed yet or not.

Is that how admissions work? A committee will vote on every individual? Sorry, I just don’t know.

I’m not positive, but I think Gtown transfer admissions has a process like that. I think it includes a current student, a professor, and an admissions official.

Hey! fellow GU transfer applicant here. Wish I would have found this thread while I was writing my application! Love the community we’ve built here though. Any one know if letters will come in before June 1st or some where around mid-May like the other ivy leagues?

Well according to recent history, Georgetown releases the first wave of notices during the last week of April. Obviously that is not the case this year, so we are hoping that some decisions are released this week!

Any decisions today?

Not for me.

Nope

Maybe tomorrow. I think last years first round was on a Tuesday. However my money is on next week or the following one. I think that is when they will send out the majority of acceptances then denies will be on or closer to June 1st. But that’s just my guess.

Hi all! I have been offered admissions to another school but I have to respond within the week. Does anyone know if there is anything I can do to get my decisions early or perhaps decisions will be released this week? Georgetown in my absolute dream school

I’m in the same boat. I need to respond to my other school soon and I don’t know how to request an early read or if it affects your chances of admission.

Exactly, I am afraid that calling and asking for an early read can also affect my chances… But I really need to respond by this week or else I lose my spot :frowning:

I know asking is nerve-wracking but it sounds like you need to reach out to them. If you explain the situation I’m sure admissions will understand the urgency!
