hi!! congrats!!! if you feel comfortable could you share your stats? fellow SFS hopeful transfer and it’d be really helpful

If you join MSB as a student, can you change to an SFS major?

hi all! as promised earlier, i’m going to share my stats below.

i was accepted to georgetown SFS today.

college info:
t100 state college
currently a first year applying to enter georgetown as a sophomore
gpa: 4.0
ecs: minor internship in politics, student member of this org that supports fgli students, involved with honors college, e-board member for “fun” student org

high school:
super underfunded, rural school that influenced my access to higher ed (talked about that a lot)
gpa: uw-3.9 w-4.1
sat- 1420
ecs: involved with fbla, student council, environmental org but nothing spectacular compared to other applicants. i worked a LOT though

overall comments- it was definitely my essays that got me in. i told my story and showed how i came to be where i am today. i told the good, the bad, and the plain old ugly. biggest tips are to be honest and open. they appreciate that as it shows maturity and a greater understanding of yourself/who you want to be.

Were there any juniors that got accepted ?

im a sophomore that applied to the college… if we didn’t receive anything today should we expect a waitlist or rejection? :frowning:

I just looked at last year’s forum and the first wave of acceptances seemed to be on April 30th, then some May 5th, May 8th, and May 15th… so I don’t think people who haven’t heard back should give up just yet! There’s still acceptances to come

If anyone makes any sort of admitted students group let me know! I would love to talk to some other people.

^ yeah, that’d be great if someone could send the link to the reddit

Is anyone here a veteran?

Sophomore transfer accepted last night to SFS. I did reach out to someone at admissions to inquire about an early read on Thursday but they didn’t get back to me and I think I was just lucky to be in the first wave. I’m sure there will be more waves, stay optimistic!
Transferring from a community college in NJ
gpa: 4.0
lots of involvement at my cc, president of a club and some executive board positions for others.
Went to one of the best public high schools in NJ
Gpa: unweighted 4.0, weighed 5.2
rank: 5/510
track, xc, softball, football.
I’m confident that it was my essays that made a difference. I wrote about quite a unique topic for my personal essay and for the school specific one I really demonstrated why Georgetown, and it WAS specifically written for Georgetown. I worked on my essays for MONTHS.
I applied last year as a senior in HS and was waitlisted but rejected ultimately.
My advice is to stay positive and don’t give up!! Best of luck to all you still waiting!!

SO happy for you guys that have been accepted already! This low acceptance rate is brutal but let’s all remember that there are many paths to success and this does not define any of us. Positive vibes only

I am curious about the order they’re releasing results. Is it by last name or the time you submitted your application?
