Your GPA is very strong and your ECs will pass for Georgetown. The only really lacking part of your application happens to be the SAT scores, which are fairly low for GTown. I’m not sure how heavily they weigh standardized test scores, but I think overall, you have a fairly good shot at Georgetown. You really should have considered applying there Early Action.

Thanks a lot. I know my test scores a fairly low unfortunately I tend to make carless mistakes on those kind of tests when pressed for time. I read on a few posts that Georgetown favors those ranked 1 or 2 in their class with an acceptance rate of over 50% Does anyone know the validity of this statement?

I mean, let’s be honest. Those ranked 1/2 are, in all likelihood, the brightest and hardest working in that school, meaning they will have good ECs and high Board scores. 50% seems high, but it makes sense for valedictorians/salutatorians, I suppose. Good luck to you.

Yes and same to you. I also know that colleges always say that they never have “quotas” or limit the number of student from each high school, but I was wondering since since about 80% of college bound students at my school stay in state does it help my cause? The most prestigious university I can think a student went to from my school was UVa. So I was thinking this might help because my interviewer seemed interested that I was the first student ever to apply to Georgetown from my HS.

My friend who is at georgetown was ranked number 2 out of 300 students but he also had a higher ACT score than you. Do you have any SAT 2s? Georgetown HIGHLY recommends 3. Your extracurricular activities are quite strong as well as your GPA. They also take into account the interview… Good luck!

Thanks everyone for the encouragement. It has been my dream to go to Georgetown. When I visited over the summer I knew it was the place for me. I am applying to the McDonough School of Business to major in International Business.

They like top 2 with top scores. All top colleges do. Georgetown’ 50th percentile in 2010 was 1950-2250, putting you at barely the 25th percentile this year in all likelihood. Not impossible but tough.
