Hello all,
I’m a rising junior just finishing up my sophomore year at my all-boys college preparatory school in Pennsylvania. I have begun thinking about colleges, and Georgetown is one that really stood out to me, however I am not too sure on my chances. Freshman year I had an honors math, honors English, and an AP human Geography class (5 on AP exam), this year I had an honors English, AP European history and an honors math. Next year I have enrolled in honors physics, AP stats, AP US history, honors American literature, and an AP humanities course. In addition to this, I was accepted into an elite scholars program only available to the top tier students in which we go to Rome and take a course for two weeks (all of which goes on the transcript). Lastly, my unweighted GPA is a 3.74 and my weighted GPA is a 4.81. I took the PSAT this year and got a 1250, albeit I’m not sure how much weight that carries. With all this in mind, is it even worth applying to an elite school like Georgetown? I was looking at some numbers and saw just how difficult it really is to get in. Be as honest as you can. Thank you in advance.
I also am a writer for the school newspaper, and a member of the Latin and culture club. In addition to this, I play varsity lacrosse and lettered my freshman year.
