Well to my knowledge the College has a lower acceptance rate, but SFS expects much more out of an applicant (in terms of ECs, exhibiting knowledge in essays, etc.). The College might have higher test score averages, too, but I'm not sure.

Maybe you're right Tim, but I don't think you have talked to enough phds, professors, and experts to really get a grip on what its "rep" is. Could you please elaborate as to how you have gotten an idea as to the reputation of the specific schools in Georgetown? For my own part, I can only look at numbers, and try to be objective regardless of the hearsay.

In the year 500, everyone thought that the Earth was flat. Did that mean it was true?

And really, if you tell people you go to Georgetown, that's good enough. They're not going to be like: "Oh, SFS?" "No, the College." "Oh, I see. What a failure you are."

for sure calidan. i believe i made clear that it was heresay in my last post brenner, but it is common heresay and as i also noted, and that's worth something.

No, I don't think hearsay is worth anything...

I concur .

that's why it's inadmissible in court.

ok well if you care about college prestige then you care about hearsay...but maybe you don't

shoot, I'm just happy I got accepted.

so you should be, you're one of hte lucky few...congrats

Me too, Auren, me too...

I think what the SFS/COL conflict boils down to is that, at an undergraduate level, SFS is the best school in the country for students who want to specifically study international relations, and in the college, the majors (with the exception of the amazing FLL), are, while at the very top, not as recognizable internationally. But its all part of the same university...so I don't know where the drama comes from. georgetown is georgetown/

A rose by any other name still smells as sweet...

i dunno.. i just get the feeling that Georgetown is more well known internationally.....

i would personally never ever go to dartmouth.. it's in the middle of nowhere......

brown and gtown are pretty much my top choices!!
for me, it's a toss up between brown and gtown

"i dunno.. i just get the feeling that Georgetown is more well known internationally.....

i would personally never ever go to dartmouth.. it's in the middle of nowhere......"

you see. its okay if g-town people think theyre better than dartmouth because of SFS because dartmouth people probably think theyre better than g-towners.

but whatever, thats nice you have SFS, but what about people like me, those who couldnt care less about international relations and what not? dartmouth is clearly a better school unless you are one of those polisci people. and if you are polisci or whatever and think g-town is better, i will agree with you, its better for YOU. but dartmouth may be better for someone else.

theyre equal. brown would be equal but they get too high there.

why are u quoting what i said... it doesn't really have much to do with the point you're making...
anyway i'm just a HS senior who applied to brown and gtown..
and happen to dislike dartmouth because of its location

and no i'm not appying to SFS, nor am i a polisci major or whatever... i'm not even into politics.
i'm actually an english/art history major.

Kosuke...SFS does not have a political science major. The political science equivalent at Georgetown is the Government major, which is at the college, so I guess that sort of kills your argument.

...both are very good points.

maybe i should read up on stuff before i start rambling from now on....

touch
