Georgetown vs. Cornell

Georgetown vs. Cornell... (accepted into both)

I'm really not sure exactly what it is that i want to study. a part of me wants to try international relations (east asia, to be exact)... a part of me is now considering business (undergrad? grad?) and also possibly a lawyer (grad, right?). i know i also want fine arts as a minor (or a dual degree, double major etc.). But at this point everything is a possibility (which by default creates a lot of uncertainty...

So deciding between Georgetown and Cornell at the moment. But also, I've been waitlisted at Columbia, Brown, UPenn, and Dartmouth.

Someone please help me. Convince me one way or the other! (also advise me, should i stay on the waitlists? does one of those schools really make a huge difference over cornell or GTown?)

neither georgetown nor cornell has a preprofessional business school as far as I know (unlike UPenn, UVA etc.) But most people go to graduate school for business.

by "possibly a lawyer" I'll presume you mean you are also considering law, and yes, you'd need to go to graduate school for that.

if you want IR, you want georgetown. g-town will give you an IR education like NO OTHER school can give you (but you need to be accepted to the School of Foreign Service - did you apply and get in?) But on the other hand, that is just about G-Town's only strengh aside from government.

If I were you I'd stay on the waitlists because you MIGHT find any of those schools offer you something cornell and g-town can't.

Well... I don't know if McDonough School of Business counts as a "pre-professional business school?" Maybe you meant something else.

AEM is Cornell's business program and from what I understand its quite good. I got into both programs but choose Georgetown because of the location and its Wall Street focus. I can't stress enough how heavily Georgetown kids are recruited by Wall Street, both BB and MM banks (our non-Finance and Accounting programs are lacking however), but if you want Wall Street, come to Georgetown.

We have a pre-law track and an early acceptance program into Georgetown Law (which is Top 15 Law School).

Just from what my friends who go there say:
Brown: don't know much other than that it's liberal (very)
Columbia: excellence and my friend loves the Engineering program there
Penn: Great business program (the best) and one of the best nursing
Dartmouth: Solid liberal arts education, but in the middle of no-where and frat life heavy, but they have their own mountain (skiing)

I think you should stay on the wait-list and see, and also it would be helpful if you can narrow down what you want to study and go from there.

All great schools, congrats!
