Georgetown vs. Davidson

I'm currently a transfer student, and I have been accepted to Davidson and Georgetown (the College). I know they are both very different schools (one's a tiny liberal arts school and you guys all know about the other one), but I am having a lot of trouble making a decision. If you have any opinions, I'd love to hear what you have to say. I know the professors at Davidson are some of the best in the country, but I do not know that much about life at Georgetown, I've read through a lot of the threads on the Georgetown forum, but I am still having trouble weighing the pros and cons. Also, I am hoping to go to law school one day and I am worried that getting close to a 4.0 at Davidson is nearly impossible because of grade deflation and it would be easier to maintain a high GPA at Georgetown, is this true?

Again, any insight at all would be greatly appreciated, I am genuinely confused. Thanks.

Go where you think you’d be happiest and would do your best work.
YOu’ll get a fine education at both.
If you were my kid, I’d tell you to go to GU, but that’s from the perspective of a northeasterner who expects his kids will also settle in the northeast, so it might have absolutely nothing to do with what’s right for you.
I can tell you that on a national level, GU is more well known and therefore theoretically more “prestigious,” if that is of any importance to you. (And I caution against making it too important. Both my kids are at very fine schools, but probably could have gotten into some that might be thought to be even more “prestigious.” They chose to go where they thought they’d be happiest, and that was definitely the right decision.)

I think it’s all about fit. Especially if you are planning on going to grad school, they will probably be seen as about equal if you have all other factors the same. I do know that Davidson has a reputation for being very academically oriented though I personally think Georgetown sounds more fun then a tiny school in the middle of NC. However, you may not like being near a big city or want a very small school in which case Davidson is for you. I don’t think you can go wrong with either.

Georgetown… just come and visit…
