Without getting into specific programs of study or academic departments, what are the general differences between these two schools? How does the social life, academic caliber of students, etc. differ between the two of them?

The schools are actually pretty similar in many respects. Both schools' sports atmospheres are dominated by basketball, and both schools have powerhouse lacrosse teams, too, which draw pretty nice crowds. As far as partying goes, I get the impression that both schools have that great work hard during the week, party hard on the weekends attitude. One big difference between the schools is that the area of Georgetown and of Washington, D.C. is much more awesome than Durham, and there's a lot more to do. You will probably hear that the students at Duke are better academically, but if that's true, they're only marginally better. Both schools have great, motivated kids, I think.

I was at that game and I have nearly the exact picture of the scoreboard, somewhat different angle...I made a bet with my mom before the game that the winner would be the school I was going to...and I'm staying true to my word

Yea that game was unquestionably one of the highlights of my time at Gtown. Being in the front row didn't hurt heh
