rustic...according to us news...georgetown ftw in history
16% international relations and affairs, 10% political science and government, 9% English language and literature, 8% finance
5% graduates of who choose to continue further education going into med school
since your interest lies in history...georgetown is definetly for you gl!

It is, but unfortunately the biases in this thread are preventing a reasonable point from being made.

Both are good schools, with strengths in their own areas. Georgetown is better than JHU for some people, and vice versa.

From my experience on campus, I don't think any Hoya cares about JHU (I don't know if it's the same at JHU with respect to Georgetown). It's nothing like the bitterness that prevails among GWU students when they hear Georgetown uttered in conversation – you should see how defensive they get: a couple students went out of their way to inform me of their acceptance at Georgetown and their desire to attend GWU instead.

I was accepted to both last year and was having a hard time deciding between the two, and i'm pre-med. but of course in the end, i chose georgetown. georgetown has an early assurance program to med school, jhu does not. students seemed happier here and the location is much better. also i get to meet people from a variety of majors wheras at jhu almost most people are science so its more interesting here.

for premed, people usualyl choose jhu but as you said some people will instead choose georgetown due to the environment which is completely justified =D georgetown ftw in environmental quality =D

you'll find that JHU's students score higher

On the SAT?

JHU's midrange according to College Board is:
Verbal 630-740
Math 660-760

Georgetown's midrange is:
Verbal 640-750
Math 650-740

Hardly a big enough difference to say one student body is more intelligent than the other or that one school is stronger academically than the other.

I believe Georgetown is ranked lower than it should be because of its low endowment compared to peer schools. Either way, I do not consider a school ranked #16 by USNews to be better than a school ranked #23. By that method, Duke is a better school than Brown as well since Duke is ranked 7 spots above Brown. I disagree and consider them both great schools with their own strengths.
