Georgetown vs. Johns Hopkins vs. Vanderbilt

Hey everyone! So here is my dilemna, i've narrowed down my college choices to three schools Georgetown, Johns Hopkins, and Vanderbilt (I was accepted at all three) and i'm having a difficult time deciding where to go. Help!

So at Georgetown I was admitted into NHS for Nursing, and will probably do a minor in International Health. At Johns Hopkins I was admitted to CAS for Public Health (I know its the best program in the country... but I'm almost positive I will not be pursuing a career in Public Health... just something in healthcare, and definitely NOT pre-med!) At Vanderbilt I was admitted into Peabody College for Human and Organizational Development.

I'm getting mixed reviews from people. Many said Georgetown because of its prestige, others said Johns Hopkins because of its ranking, and my family is pushing for Vandy because they gave me an amazing financial aid package. So which do I choose? Prestige, Ranking, or Money? Your opinions are GREATLY appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Vanderbilt is very prestigious as well - isn’t it considered an ivy school of the south. Anyway, if you are getting a great financial package at vandy, then that might be your best choice.
Though, i’ve been to Georgetown and loved it. Nice campus and Washington d.c. is a very cool city.
Lastly, i don’t know much about JH except that it is a great school. But i hear the campus isn’t very nice.

Hopkins campus is actually beautiful. it’s once you get a few blocks off campus that it’s not so nice, and even then it depends on which direction you’re going.
go with your gut, shayz. you literally can’t go wrong between those 3 schools.

I think all are fairly equal in terms of prestige. Honestly, if you like all of the campuses equally, go with the one that has the best financial aid package.

But if you decide to go to Hopkins, I don’t think a major Public Health will be as limiting as you seem to think it will be…if you are pursuing a career in healthcare in general, PHS is a great major to have in college.

“and my family is pushing for Vandy because they gave me an amazing financial aid package”
Vanderbilt is a fine school. If their aid package is far superior to the others I would put Vandy at the top. (Obviously visit the schools to get a feel for each)>

Hopkins has a stunning campus (wikipedia has pictures or google)

If you want anything in healthcare or the field, Hopkins is IDEAL and arguably attracts the best students, faculty and research in that discipline. Hopkins is gold in that industry not to mention the number or recruiters that go there for college seniors looking for that industry.

I think GTown is a little too country-clubby to me and honestly unattractive being a jesuit school. A little too much of the “ivy reject” mentality too - it’s not as diverse as hopkins or vandy either.

good luck

Wealth, to be fair, I’ve heard from a lot of people that the “ivy reject” mentality is just as strong at Hopkins.

Then again, I also met many people who had turned DOWN Ivies for hopkins.

Thanks so much everyone! My gut is telling me Johns Hopkins, I loved the campus, the atmosphere, and the people. But in terms of alumni networking, internships, etc. Georgetown is the way to go… I really appreciate all of your opinions.

I think the big difference is that Hopkins has Early Decision so a large chunk of the class, based on their webpage, is filled in ED so those kids have JHU as their first choice, something like 40% of the class is filled in ED.

GTown has EA so many students can use that as a fall back if nothing else works out. i’m not say all students do that, but at Hopkins you definitely can’t.

Thanks so much for your opinions- I’ve decided that i’ll be attending Georgetown!

I totally have a feeling this is someone I met at Discovery Days…haha! This is Dillon obviously :D

Haha that could be very likely! My name is Shayna :)
