How do the dorms at Georgetown compare to Northeastern? I am considering both.
I got accepted to Northeastern as a NMF in the Honors program, so I would be in an LLC in East Village.
I got accepted to Georgetown regularly
Also, how are the facilities?
Is it true that Georgetown has old buildings and bad facilities? How is the food there? How do these things compare to Northeastern?
Thanks!! Please feel free to comment even if you have indirect information or something only partially related, I need all the opinions I can get!
Congrats on your acceptances, those are two excellent choices!
I don’t know much about Northeastern, but I myself have done a lot of research on Georgetown’s facilities as I have also been accepted there! I can tell you the following:
-Gtown’s facilities are simply not the greatest. They are old, there seems to be quite a lot of mold, rodents, and/or plumbing issues, especially in the dorms, all hilariously documented in the Instagram account @gtownhotmess
-They do however have some newer buildings such as the student center and the business school. Also, there is some beauty that comes with older architecture. The main building, Healey Hall, which is very Harry Potter-esque, is breathtaking.
-Food at Georgetown is also not the greatest. They did revamp it a couple of years ago, but it’s still described as bland and nothing out of the ordinary. Keep in mind though there are a lot of other options that are not just the dining hall. I know GU has a farmers market set up once a week with tons of inexpensive and yummy food trucks, and the D.C area is one of the best when it comes to food.
-All in all, barring a few exceptions, very few colleges have amazing food and dorms. They are all kind of standard. While Georgetown might be on the lower end of the spectrum, your experience is going to be what you make of it. I have talked to many current students and the general consensus is that they still love Georgetown. You are going to be receiving a world-class education and will have access to a plethora of opportunities.
Best of luck with your decision!
