Georgetown Vs. Vanderbilt Vs. Possibly UGA and possibly Emory

Again, medman, I must disagree. Vanderbilt is VERY undergraduate focused, and this is, in fact, what often attracts students to the school over its peers such as Notre Dame and Emory. Now, if the op is very interested in a certain major available in SFS, I would advise him to go there. However, he indicates that his interests may lie in law school after graduation and, knowing that law school admissions are almost entirely based on LSAT + GPA, and not on the undergraduate institution attended, I should think that this matter is rather inconsequential.
Social life is up for debate. I don’t think that many non-Hoyas would share your view about Georgetown having the better social life because Vanderbilt is typically thought of as being the best in this regard among elite schools. Sure, some people dismiss the social scene here as exclusive, but this generalization is based on an image of Vanderbilt that may have been accurate years ago, when it was significantly less diverse. It’s not just a party school – quality of life here is fantastic in almost every regard and if a prospective student desires a complete, balanced college experience, Vanderbilt cannot be beat.

All I have to say is Nashville vs. DC. End of story.

i agree with medman - Nashville has some of the most beautiful women in the country - DC just doesnt compare

Lol–I am sure that is true!!!

Commodore: By “true” Vanderbilt freshman, I refer to your ardent defense of the school, just as medman is a “true” Georgetown student in that regard.

On a general note, the point of my post was to underscore that we simply do not know what will be the best choice for the OP. It could be Georgetown, Vanderbilt, UGA, or Emory, so we should present what we know and feel about the schools and leave the determination of the better choice up to him. Even if the schools weren’t so closely ranked, there is still no clear-cut winner because much of the college experience is subjective. The “my-school-is-better-than-yours, so-you-should-go-there” mentality that I see on CC so much is irksome, flimsy, and unhelpful.
