why are you retaking the SAT? u have a 2330?

Yale - reach
Darmouth - slight reach
Duke - reach/match
Gtown - match
W&L - safe

I haven't taken the new SAT yet, and I heard most schools will want that for class of 2006 applicants.

I echo shrek.

how is dartmouth a slight reach? if he is a slight reach at dartmouth, then who gets in?

I recommend that you not retake the SAT since you already have ACT scores. Many schools are accepting the old SAT for students matriculating in 2006. The schools which require the new SAT will accept the ACT instead.

Since I don't feel like starting a new thread........

About volunteer hours, do they have to be "documented" to count? I've done some volunteer work but I don't write it down or anything...I just know it's like 2 hrs/week or something like that. Would that be ok on a college app?

niledxd: As far as I know, they have to be documented to appear on your transcript and this is the only way they can be official. However, you do self report them on your application and this should suffice.

Buckeyenation: Yale is the only real reach on that list. No need for so many safeties unless you're looking for merit aid.

how can you have a 4.06 unweighted?

That was my question...

I think the only slight reach on that list is Yale.

FishS, you put your volunteer hours on your transcript? Dang, didn't know that. But say you don't put anything or you have a really low number, would that hurt you?

Your high school puts your hours on the transcript when you document them, as far as I know.

However, on college applications you have the chance to unofficially report how many hours you have done with specific activities. Most colleges accept this as the truth, you don't really need to document hours but it can't hurt if you do.

yea buckeye they accept old SATs for class of 2006, meaning u just have to take old sat (ur 1530) and add ur 800 writing which yields a 2330.

yale isnt a slight reach/match for anyone...its a definite reach.

i say hes a slight reach at dartmouth cuz he has above avg stats and a lotta people with his stats get likelies so i dunno dartmouth is still a bit iffy.

my school grades up to 4.33 (100 average), but they don't weight honors or AP classes. A 4.06 average is around a 97-98.

and thanks to everyone for their advice. I'll take the SAT deal into consideration, although I might just give it a shot to see if I can get a real good score...

All matches or safeties except for Yale

Georgetown - Competetive...your stats are awsome...i'd say it'll depend on your interview
Washington and Lee - In...fantastic law school
Dartmouth - Competetive
William and Mary - In
Duke - In
Yale - this is a toughy...once again....work on that interview

Duke is a great school with a first rate golf course/golf program. Also might look at Holy Cross-very good school with a Division 1 golf program
