Starting a discussion thread for GU waitlist class of 2023.
Not sure why thread is necessary as no one got off waitlist last year except nursing/health studies.
@Travelforlife Each year is different, however if you don’t play you can’t win! If you didn’t get in the schools you love then you are more than happy to accept a waitlist spot.
Good luck @applicant1019
Any news back about waitlist?
Not yet. They said they’ll notify us around the 15th. WashU’s waitlist is moving tho!
While in past years very few people have gotten in off the waitlist at GU, it seems that they accepted significantly fewer applicants across the schools to prevent over-enrolling as yield increases. This still means that more spots are likely to be available after May 1 since they are being conservative in the RD round.
@jujunette01 Where may I ask are you getting your data from?
@caz0743, @dzleprechaun posted this info in the RD thread for gtown
"* Totals: 3,202 admitted out of a total of 22,788 for an admission rate of 14.1%
- Georgetown College: 1,857 out of 13,704 (13.6%)
- Walsh School of Foreign Service: 596 out of 4,109 (14.5%)
- McDonough School of Business: 527 out of 3,322 (15.9%)
- School of Nursing and Health Studies: 222 out of 1,682 (13.2%)"
Note, for the class of 2022, 3327 applicants were accepted in total (which is 125 higher than this year)
For the college: 1,932 admits (down 75 for this year)
For SFS: 630 admits (down 34)
For MSB: 540 (down 56)
For NHS: 225 (down 3)
Has anyone’s college counselor gotten word on if the waitlist will move or not?
@jujunette01 Thank you. They could always keep this year’s class smaller, but let’s hope not
@caz0743 This way they can also keep acceptance rates low, or at least more consistent throughout the different schools
Just referring to the letter included (along with the waitlist letter) that stated none were accepted off waitlist last year for all three (Georgetown College, Walsh School of Foreign Service and McDonough School of Business) and Nursing Health sciences - 14 percent.
The portal said we should know by the 15th. Anyone get anything in the mail yet?
Has anybody been contacted by admissions asking if they are still interested in attending? Our nephew received an e-mail yesterday, but he doesn’t want to get his hopes up too high just yet.
That seems really promising. I haven’t got anything
Congrats to him! Seems promising to me as I haven’t gotten one and haven’t heard of anyone else getting one!
@SouthFlaMom99 Congrats to your Nephew if that does indeed mean something! May I ask what college he applied to within Georgetown?
Can I ask which school your nephew applied to?
I don’t know which program, but I can ask my sister this evening and let you know.
Hi again. He had applied to the School of Foreign Service. Hope that’s helpful. He was told that he would hear in a few days.
