alright sweet. Well congrats on Vanderbilt and good luck!

It’s quiet… too quiet…

@Cedardog do you know how he or she heard from Georgetown–letter, email, call?

its a phone call

I hope they notify us this week…
This waitlist thing is very uncomfortable…

I’m really getting concerned because I don’t know if they call before or not, and I have yet to recieve a letter or email or call so the closer to the 15th the worse. I’m also worried if the waitlist process is truly need blind etc. I hope being low income doesn’t hinder my chances

It’s weird. I’d expect to see some posts on CC about people getting off the waitlist already, but I haven’t seen any, except for the note Cedardog made. Looks like they already sent out a wave of letters…but no one’s been talking about it…

i actually got in off the waitlist last thursday via phone call, i havent gotten anything in the mail

@deerills what school are you accepted to? Did you ask if they were going to accept more?

I’m starting to think they didn’t take many from the waitlist and so though people have been contacted, it’s not as many as previous years so College Confidential isn’t being flooded with their results. I’m still keeping some hope though.

@StanfordTree I’m also keeping my hopes up… If there was no place left they would have probably notified us…I hope…
Anyway good luck to you!
I hope we all here good news next week…

Good luck to you too! I know in some cases people got int without having been called or anything. Anyway it’s not over till it’s over right? So that said hopefully the next 5 days brings good results!

Good luck to everybody and keep us posted!

I was admitted to the college, and they didnt say how many they were taking, sorry

Congrats deerills! I applied to the college so I guess that’s it for me! I’m appreciative of even being put on the waitlist in the first place. Good luck to everybody waiting on SFS or McDonough!

Wait, is this really true? If we applied to the College and haven’t heard our waitlist decision yet, we should automatically know we didn’t get in?

@bellem13 I actually didn’t send anything additional in. No letter, no more tests, etc. Good luck!

@Conflicted2017 NO it does not mean you should assume you didn’t get in. Don’t give up hope. The waitlist process is weird. There are many ways factors that play into how you will hear from Georgetown. For example, if you have expressed to Georgetown that, if you were to be admitted off the waitlist, you would attend, then Georgetown does not call you to notify you if you have been accepted, denied, or put on extended waitlist. You will only hear by snail mail. Waitlist sucks. I’m on waitlist for the college too, and what I have learned is that you can not really give up hope until you’ve been notified on or by the 15th. It is weird that some hear sooner than others, but I really don’t think that plays into whether you’re a top candidate on the waitlist or not. I hope this helps and I’m sorry it’s a ramble–I’m just typing this up whilst bored in my AP Spanish class haha. Anyway, best of luck to everyone here, I’m positive that you are all very deserving candidates

I just called the Admissions Office and they said that they haven’t sent out any waitlist decisions yet, so i’m not sure how deerils got his decision already.

fingers crossed!

Deerils may have indeed gotten a phone call. Georgetown is on record that it uses its waitlist to fine tune its class. Deerils might have been an applicant that meets some special need that we aren’t even thinking about such as a shortage of studio arts majors.

It is in any school’s interest to contact those it wants as soon as possible before plans are made. It is also in any school’s interest to extend the period it can pull from the waitlist as long as possible. (“Sent out decisions”)

Why have the year start with an empty dorm room? Nevertheless, I do very much appreciate that Georgetown promises an end by May 15th to this continued waiting.

In 2013, Georgetown increased the size of its waitlist to 2000 from 1150 in 2012. Last year, Deacon is quoted on May 17th in the Hoya as having already let in 50 students and the plan was to let in 80. I am constantly reminded of the Jim Carey Dumb and Dumber quote, “So you are saying I have a chance…”

fingers crossed too
