Georgetown wholistic approach

I have a GPA of 4.4 weighted and a 4.0 unweighted, as well as a 1480 on my SAT. However my biggest strengths are the community service hours I’ve done (approximately 450 in the last two years) and the two non-profits I’ve founded. My SAT II scores are REALLY low for GT (all around a 670). However, I have at least 4 5’s on AP exams and many other awards outside of school. Will the low SAT II scores hurt my application all that much? I’m reading the stats on people that got accepted and I feel like this puts me out of reach

Which SAT2 did u take?

@suzyQ7 Math II, US History, World History and Chem. I received a 5 on my AP Chem exam but a 690 on my SAT II unfortunately

Look on Georgetown’s Common Data Set and you’ll find that while the subject tests are listed as very important, so are many other factors. As long as other areas of your application makes you standout, the weak scores won’t hurt you as much.

A weak SAT II score will not immediately get your application tossed out, in my experience. I applied with five SAT II scores (since you have to send them all) and only one was above a 700 - I was accepted Early Action last fall. Georgetown takes into account your entire application, so with the rest of your stats being strong I would advise you to apply and see what happens.

@yonceonhismouth WOW! That makes me feel SOOOOO much better! Thank you!

My d was 1540 sat 35 act with 4.0 uw and 760 790 sat II 13 aps with 2 4a. The rest 5s. Val of her school. Wlist. Not that you couldn’t crush you app. Just about being reasonable with expectations and not set yourself up by having all your hopes on one school. There’s so many great options with top stats like you have.

@yonceonhismouth can I ask what your SAT II Subject test scores were?
