Georgetown???

I would really like to transfer (junior standing) one day to Georgetown from my current California Community College. The problem is that I have no clue where to start or what is needed.

Few things:
Terrible HS grades, dropped out middle of my junior year and got my GED -- How much will this affect me?

Never took any SAT/ACT tests, would these be required?

Are there certain classes that are absolutely required for for having a chance at admissions?

Is the fact that I'm coming from a CC be looked down upon?

These are just a few things for now, I'm sure I will have more later.

Testing requirements are almost always on the college website:

[Transfer Application - Office of Undergraduate Admissions](Transfer Application | Office of Undergraduate Admissions | Georgetown University)

There are no specific classes, but work on completing general ed coursework (English, math, science, social science, humanities, etc.). I’m guessing this isn’t very different than what you’d take to transfer to a UC or other CA public. I tried looking at the GT website, but can’t find their general undergraduate distributional requirements, only ones for specific majors; you might want to ask on the GT forum here as current students should know.

Take a full load, with the most rigorous courseload that you can get the top grades in.

I wouldn’t say they will exactly ‘look down upon’ coming from a CC, but in general the academic level of your cohort at at CC will be lower than at a 4 yr college and particularly at a selective 4 yr (which many transfer applicants will be coming from). I think it would be naive to assume that they don’t recognize this to some degree.

This is a very long thread but you may find it useful:
