Georgetown

Hi guys. I would be applying to Georgetown Regular Decision. I have a 1380 sat score(1 sitting) and a 3.85 gpa as of right now. I have yet to take any SAT subject tests because I didn’t realize that they were STRONGLY RECOMMENDED. Is my sat and gpa good for Georgetown. Also would it be bad to send it without subject tests or should I definitely take them. My guidance counselor told me last year that I didn’t need to take any Subject Tests because they weren’t popular anymore. Thanks in advance.

I think you need to take subject tests if you want a chance of getting in.

@Devils26 Once your college situation is settled, I think you should politely explain to your guidance counselor that the advice you received was bad given your situation.

If I did decent on my sat subject scores, do you think my sat and gpa are up to par for Georgetown

Is your GPA weighted or unweighted?

I think your SAT scores are low. Unless you have a hook, Georgetown is a long shot. Make sure you have some backup plans.

It is a weighted gpa and I do have ackup plans. I waned one good reach school which would be this.

Sorry @Devils26, I don’t think your GPA and SAT are high enough to have a chance at acceptance. The average SAT for students accepted from my DD’s school is 1465 and your GPA looks low for Georgetown. Because Georgetown does not accept the CA, I recommend you spend the significant amount of time it would take you to fill out the application applying to other schools. Good luck!

Your SAT and GPA are good enough to give you a shot at admission. And by the way, your guidance counselor was flat-out wrong. I know a select few people who did squeeze through the admissions process without Subject Tests, but when they say strongly recommended, they mean it. I would focus on getting good scores on those and emphasizing your extracurricular strengths on the rest of your application/in your essays.

Can you take them in December? (not sure if you can still do late registration, check college board site)

My D took three in one sitting, so it can be done.
