georgetown

Hi!!
I’m eagerly awaiting the early action admissions decision to Georgetown. I would like an honest opinion as to whether or not I have a good chance at being admitted.

school of foreign service
SAT: first sitting: 1400, second sitting: 1430
SAT II: taking Math 2, Literature, and Spanish with listening on Nov 3
3.98 unweighted gpa, 4.471 weighted
Tons of honors, dual credit, AP
I think my essays are really good, but of course I can’t really tell if they are for sure.
I think my counselor rec is going to be good, and I think my first teacher rec will be good. It’s from my Spanish teacher and I love Spanish and am planning on studying it in the sfs for my major.
Top 1% of class (out of 307) so that’s an estimated 1-3 but my school doesn’t release exact rank

academic decathlon
Spell bowl - starter, near perfect at regionals and state
Varsity track and field

  • varsity all 4 years (intended this year of course)
  • top 10 scholar athlete every year
  • Indiana academic all state track (40 girls across the state)
    Currently working at Target
    Hoosier Girls state attendee
  • senator
  • bill on 2nd reading
  • platform committee member

I think my interview was great and I was able to talk about my passions and how they connect to Georgetown.

Parts of my app that were integral:

  • I have moved a lot so I have experienced diversity and that taught me tolerance. It also gave me my passions for immigration reform as I lived in a border city for a majority of my life.

I also talked about how I am passionate about voter registration and am participating in the student poll worker program.

This school year I am conducting an independent research study for school safety and am also going to be a cadet teacher during 2nd semester because of my passion for education.

If you have any clarifying questions PLEASE don’t hesitate to ask. No sugarcoating!

OP, I can’t chance you, but it is my understanding that Georgetown will not consider the SAT subject tests that you take in November when it evaluates your EA app. Meaning, your EA app is going to stand on its own without the subject tests, which is going to be a disadvantage. If you are deferred, then Georgetown will include your November subject test results in the evaluation.

From GT’s website:

“I haven’t taken the SAT Subject Tests yet. Can I still apply Early Action?
Absolutely. If you are a senior and have not yet taken recommended SAT Subject Tests you may still apply Early Action and your application will receive full consideration. We do recommend that you register for these exams in the event that your application is deferred to Regular Decision.”
