My goal is to go to GEorgia Tech for Computer Engineering but to get there i have to go to either georgia state as a major in computer science or georgia southern as a major in computer engineering. I live in Mcdonough and I think I want to be close to home(not sure yet). Also I want to go to a college where it would be easy to transfer and if I have to change my major to computer engineering. My decision is far from decided and I need help on deciding what I want to do. P.s. I got accepted in to Southern polytechnic State University if you think thats a better option.

My sis goes to SPSU and says that SPSU is like a smaller version of GATech. However, I would chose Georgia state because it’s in the city and there’s more opportunities. I don’t know much about their computer science program or Southern’s computer engineering program.

Of the three, I’d chose between SPSU and GSU (state)

Thank you for the helping me narrow my decision

Georgia State is for Black Americans, Asians, and city-lovers.
Georgia Southern is for white people and token blacks.
SPSU is for nerds, and it’s small.

Good luck.

It doesn’t matter which school you choose (GSU, Southern, or Southern Poly). All three are in the University System of Georgia, so transferring to GT only requires you to meet a minimum GPA and have taken the correct, approved transfer courses for CompE (English I and II, Calculus I and II, Calculus-based Physics, Chemistry I, and at least eight more transferable hours). Changing majors is no problem at all. You can get accepted to Tech for Computer Engineering as a Theatre major as long as you meet those requirements.

If I had to choose, I’d go to State. You’ll be in the same city so if you make friends then transfer, you can still spend time with your friends.

SPSU was founded as Tech’s “Engineering Technology” school in 1948. In 1970 is broke away from GT and formed it’s own university.

Then again, State was founded as Tech’s night business school in 1913. In the 1930’s it broke from Tech and was run by the University System of Georgia directly. Starting in the 40’s, it spent some time as UGA-Atlanta, and in the 60’s became it’s own university. So it’s been removed from Tech for much longer than SPSU.

Opps. I just noticed that this is an old thread and I basically replied to the ■■■■■. Oh well. Still good information.
