Georgia Tech Admission Rate

While a few websites I looked at list a 33% acceptance rate for Georgia Tech (as in Georgia Institute of Technology), one website claims it has a 55% acceptance rate.

This is the site: https://colleges.niche.com/georgia-institute-of-technology/

That site isn’t the most reliable but with a acceptance rate that far off, it is hard not to wonder why it is so inaccurate. Does anyone have confirmation on which is right/just general tips on the difficulty of admission there?

It was 33% this year. That’s the official number we got on the newsletter from GaTech.
If you have any other questions about admission let me know :slight_smile: I’ll see if I can help

The 55% is probably just an old number. With acceptance rates dropping so quickly in such short amounts of time, it’s no wonder that not updating your numbers for just a couple of years can lead you to have wildly inaccurate numbers.

Official one from the GTECH website for 2014 [33%] and for that incoming class stats

For 2015, it is supposed to be around 32% with slightly better stats.

I am applying for transfer admission for Spring 2016. Im applying for business administration. I made All A’s in required course. I have a 4.0 math science GPA and a 3.83 overall. The only thing is i have 34 transferable hours. Will that hurt me?

I agree with @gdlt234 that 55% is probably an old number. There are official pdfs that detail Georgia Tech’s admission rate over the year. If I recall correctly, on year it was in the 50s, another year in the 40s, and now in the 30s. EA acceptance rates are still higher than RD acceptance rates.

It was around 55% when my sister applied in like 08. Granted it was from a incompetent counselor.

The acceptance rate declined a lot last year because Georgia Tech went to the Common App.

@Erebon
I’m interested in admission to GTech’s Aerospace Dept.
Would you please check my profile out to estimate my chances?
