(Apologies for cross-posting)

How does one know the cap (limit) on the number of words (or number of characters) that can be entered in the "Describe duties, positions, accomplishments, ..." box under "Work/Research Experience During the Summer" item in GA-Tech's online application form? Apparently the space in the box goes on accommodating words that are typed in, but surely there is a cap (for example, a similar box in MIT's form mentions a 40-word limit)? Is there a way to "preview" what will finally appear on the completed application, BEFORE submitting?

Thank you.

I submitted my app two days ago. I don’t remember how it exactly went, but I know how you can test it and find out yourself. Just try to spam random letters/numbers into a text box, and if after a certain amount of symbols it stops recording what you are typing, then you hit the limit.

Thanks, but that doesn’t seem to work. The box accepts at least 3000 words.
Were you able to “preview” the whole application (that is, see what actual material appears on the complete application) before submission?

I did not even attempt to preview it, so maybe there is a function to do that, but not that I know of

Does anyone know the answer to this? Is it at all possible to preview…?

I sent an email asking about this, I’ll post here when I get a response. Sorry for the double post.

Triple post.

Here’s the response I got:
Thanks for your interest in Georgia Tech! Our application is free-form. Therefore, it allows applicants freedom while filling it out. If you feel like it is necessary to elaborate on certain extra curriculars and wish to do so in the positions held box, you may. It is completely up to you where you want to put this information.

There is no way to preview your information. I am sorry for this inconvenience.

I think I’ll just put everything beyond about 10 words in “additional info” to be safe.
