***Georgia Tech Class of 2020 EA Applicant Thread***

@pokemon1 low since you spelled honors and national wrong. XD. On a serious note, I would be shocked if you weren’t accepted. I hope you plan on applying to MIT. All you need to do is write some good essays and nail your interviews and you will likely get in there as well. Just keep up the hard work and avoid getting senioritis!

Thanks for the responses!

^^^ You’re a shoe-in.

Hey guys! I am pretty sure I want to go to Georgia Tech, but I don’t know my chances? Could anyone chance me?

Essay was about my asthma and how I couldn’t do well in my beginning years of high school due to lung failure and breathing problems. There is a consistent improvement in my grades

Anything would be appreciated.

I think you have a good chance!!! just keep in mind that no one here really knows, but I think you have a good chance. Maybe the fact that you didn’t take a math senior year might hurt you (idk)???

Good luck!!!

On my buzzport it says my Entering Status is an International Student. I was born in China but I have been living in America for 13 years and I have a greencard. Am I supposed to be an International Student?

Cal the school. That doesn’t sound right.

No that’s probably not right. You’re an eligible non-citizen

Check the GA Tech admission updates page…there is a common question about this…
http://admission.gatech.edu/application-updates

Would anyone mind chancing me? Really nervous about getting in. Also does anyone know if GA Tech has a quota of students they will take from one high school?(We have 6 from ours applying).

Appreciate it.

Looks great, especially if you’re in state. @futureengineer20

@futureengineer20 , college classes are great! I am currently taking classes from Emory, Rice, MIT, and Harvard- so definitely!! If it is a college class (Dual enrollment), then it is a college class and it is good that you listed it as one

Oh damn xD These guys putting up the chance me posts are making me more insecure :-p

How did the rest of the EA decisions turn out for you guys? Mine comes out on the 17th

@Hermit9 I’m out of state and Indian. Do you think that could break me?

I think you have a solid chance regardless. @futureengineer20

Can someone chance me? I think my stats are good, but I’m just worried that my essays were a little rushed. I wish they would come out with decisions quicker haha

Counselor said my essay was 9/10 ish.

My biggest worry is the GPA. I’ve got decent-ish test scores, but Math is my weakest subject.
Thanks!

@Nolesemigd: I encourage them to apply to MIT, but the EC’s of most MIT students are much more intensive and usually so is the academic profile (as in more outside of HS courses and academic competitions. Also, SAT II’s are typically needed). There is a reason perfect SAT score students are turned down at MIT, Harvard, Yale, Stanford, and Princeton in droves, though it certainly doesn’t hurt. They just hope for something more in students. Tech for that poster is likely though.

Just to share: GT does not recalculate GPA for incoming freshmen. They see how your gpa stands to your school pool

That’s reliable info- got it from my gt counselor
