@Xboxgamergirl T.T ahh omg thank you it’s just I got deferred from an EA school today and my self-esteem just went down the drain…

@lolacell , was it MIT?

@Xboxgamergirl haha no it was one of the ivys

MIT accepted 600-something out of 7700! It is nearly impossible to get accepted! Most got deferred. @lolacell - I’d be stunned if you didn’t get in to Tech.

A DEFER FROM AN IVY LEAGUE IS GOOD! dont let that bring you down!!! @lolacell

@Suzima @Xboxgamergirl you guys are both so nice wow T.T If we all get into Gatech and we all decide to go I hope I can actually become friends with you guys!!

Chance me for Gatech maybe? I’ll just post my basic stats here first:
-Unweighted GPA: 3.8
-Weighted GPA: 4.35
-SAT score: 2380 superscore (800-CR, 800-M, 780-W)
-SAT subject 800-MII & 780-Chemistry
-I’m OOS applicant (california) ,male, major in biomedical engineering!

EC/Achievements-
-hospital volunteering
-AMC School High Scorer
-NMSF
-Tutoring
-Robotics
-a biomedical engineering competition, won honorable mention
a couple more, but overall somewhat weak on the ECs

ur obv getting in lol, tryna stress the rest of us out :frowning:

What do you guys think my chances are?

3,73 Unweighted GPA (most rigorous curriculum given the restrictions my school placed on people.)
34 Superscored ACT (35 E, 34 M, 33 R, 33 S)
SAT IIs: 740 Math II, 720 Chemistry, 730 US History
AP Exams: APUSH (5), AP Chemistry (3)

APs/Honors taken/currently taking:
(10) Chemistry H
(11) AP US History
(11) AP Chemistry
(11) American Lit H
(11) Pre-Calculus H
(12) AP Calculus AB
(12) AP English Literature
(12) AP Spanish Language/Culture
(12) AP Microeconomics (second semester)
(12) Physics Honors

I also took two online CC courses in the summer of 2015, and I got A’s on both of them.

ECs: Not going to list, but overall, I think they are pretty solid.

Common App Essay: I thought it came out really strong, because I spent a lot of time working on it, and I had several people review it and give me feedback. Also, my AP Lit teacher, who’s a really harsh grader, said he really liked it.

Letters of Rec: Good

Supplemental Questions: pretty average overall

Other Information:
OOS (California)
Male
I applied EA.
Major: Computer Engineering

Anyone have a clue on stats for provost or presidents scholarships?

@QuiteAverage90
Your test scores are above the median 50% and your rigor/curriculum is the highest possible within the context of your school. I think you’ve got pretty good chances but by definition holistic review encapsulates the application as a whole.

Ethnicity and state residency plays a minor role in the admissions process but you applied early action.
Good luck!

@jwala61 Per GT website: President’s Scholarship Program January 23, 2016 - Decisions about semifinalist status will be shared with all admitted early applicants to Georgia Tech.

Not sure if it applies to Provost??

@ismitah Congrats! Good luck at Emory! My nephew graduated last year. He loved it there!

Got a “happy holidays” email from Tech and a paper deferral from my early Ivy…thank you, Tech. <3

Hey is this an indication that I got in? Just got an email: “Happy Holidays from the Office of Undergraduate Admission at Georgia Tech! We hope you enjoy the season with family and friends, and we hope to see you on campus in 2016!”

@Fireball99 nope i imagine they send that email to everyone on their mailing list

I got the happy holidays too. It says happy holidays and hope to see you on campus in 2016. Will I visit them if they deny me?

Lol, that means nothing they are just trying to advertise their university and wish everyone happy holidays. They also sent it to non applicants who are a part of their mailing newsletter.

What other universities has anyone been accepted to so far?

My son just got into UMich, Engineering. Basic stats are AP Diploma with Distinction, (will have 10 AP classes), 3.80 UW, 4.3 W, 32 ACT Composite/34 Superscore, Leadership incl HOBY, Econ For Leaders (UT, Austin), Pianist, and competitive Chess Player since 3rd gr. Volunteer work incl overseas medical mission work 4 years.

Chances for GA Tech?

Good luck, everyone!
