@nimbooda14 haha, thats funny!
Guys, in Buzzport, do you all have
Program: ______
Campus of Study: _______
Field of Study: _________
I don’t remember seeing field of study the last time i logged in
Current 1st Year here at Georgia Tech, just dropping into College Confidential after mentoring some high school seniors with their applications and suddenly remembering how much I used to stalk these threads lol.
First of all, congratulations everybody! You’ve all taken a step in the right direction by applying to such a pretigious, high quality school. I’m sure you’re all anxious to find out decisions right about now (I remember I was).
A few tips/words of advice that I just finished sharing at my old high school:
-THIS IS DEFINITELY A RUMOR, but in previous years students who were accepted (some, not all!) found that they had four tabs(?) and different features on Buzzport in the days leading up to decisions.
-My decision came out about 5 miuntes before the scheduled time of release, but don’t go refreshing the page 45 minutes ahead of time either!
-If accepted, congratulations! After celebrating and telling everybody you know, look into joining Class of 2020 pages on Facebook and GroupMe chats. This allows you to meet fellow admits as well as connect you with current students like myself to answer questions, find potential roommates, get a general feel for the campus, or even just chat about random stuff (The Class of 2019 groupchat had 300+ members and talked about everything from radishes to internet memes – I walked into orientation already knowing/being friends with at least 15 people. After RD, my class had hundreds of groupchats circulating everything from sports interest to rush interest.) Some current students already created this Facebook group -> (facebook) . (com) /groups/1629659343969260/ <-- for you guys! Be wary of some groups on Facebook, they’re full of RoomSurf/Paid Representatives of Websites who spam your feed with advertisements.
-If deferred, don’t let your hearts be troubled! You just have another go around in RD.
-Lastly, if denied, don’t take it to heart. Many well qualified and spectacular students are turned away from Tech, it’s not the end of the world.
If any of y’all have questions, I’m happy to answer them! Good luck everybody!
I see three tabs at the top of the page when I click “application details” that I don’t think were there a few days ago.
@PButter - Yeah, I see that too. I think it’s been there, though…?
does anyone know if the early admission statistics will be released prior to noon on the 9th?
@PButter
The “Field of Study—” has been there for me since my account was updated with my application info. You probably just noticed it now…
@bigpapa9898 Last year they released the acceptance rate for EA on their facebook the Friday before I believe.
Just one more day for decisions now! I feel like my stats are good enough for Gatech, but my essays werent really the best (I wrote them in like 2-3 days and rushed with the app once I heard about the Presidential Scholars thing)
@Rahulbarcafan New Delhi!
This is just pure anxiety, but which scores on the ACT does GaTech give more Weightage to? I mean, Math over english ? and english over reading? something like that?
@Rahulbarcafan Pretty sure I read somewhere that they weigh Math and English more than Reading and Science, or maybe that was last year
Wow! So many Indians here. If anybody’s interested, I’m from South India too.
@ sunbeam Did u hear from such chicago, Michigan, Ga Tech, utexas Austin, UIUC, and UC Berkeley teh universities u have applied.
@Nico16 Heard from UGA (accepted), PSU (accepted), UChicago (deferred), UMichigan (deferred)
Waiting to hear from the rest! Praying for great news tomorrow! No more deferral please…
How about you? Where are you applying to? And where have you heard back from?
@glasshours I see only 3 tabs, not 4. Though one is on financial aid.
@james1998iq Plus when i submitted my application, under “application details” only the English and math score was showing.
@sunbeams Heard from Purdue(Accepted) , Cornell ED ( Rejected) , Umich ( deferred)
@Rahulbarcafan Purdue is a great engineering school as well! You have one in your pocket!
Good luck to all of us tomorrow! Hope we don’t hear the D words (deferred or denied). Hope we see the words CONGRATULATIONS!
@sunbeams I was rejected from MIT EA ;_; Congratulations on your acceptances! I’m sure that you’ll have some good news tomorrow.
@Rahulbarcafan Congratulations on Purdue! I’ve heard that UMich defers quite a lot of qualified OOS students for yield protection or something, so hang on tight. You’re still in the race.
Random Q, but how competitive is you guys’ school?
I know where I go and in the surrounding area, your UW GPA needs to be above 3.97 and W above 4.47 for top 2.5%. Kinda sucks
