@fprosk Get your parents to come with you and talk with them. Trust me, you’ll be set.
Don’t worry my parents are already coming
EDIT wow…CC has some weird smileys
What are my chances for getting OOS waived? 36ACT, 790 Math II, 4.0 UW. I’m not sure how the system works for financial aid at GT, but $40K a year is too much
@ShawnLooch It’s heavily based on ECs too, but if those are good, you have a great chance with those numbers. 300 total people (IS & OOS combined) get named semifinalists, 100 are named finalists, and 40 get the scholarship. I think for IS finalists, you’re guaranteed the scholarship. OOS will be more competitive.
@hermit9 appreciate your input! What are the requirements for Provost?
@ShawnLooch I don’t believe that there are requirements, but numbers-based middle 50% is 2250-2350/34-35. The four main attributes they look for are performance (scores/GPA), leadership, progress (improvement throughout school), and service (volunteering, community improvement).
@hermit9 Wow! That is stiff competition. Thank you for your help!
I should’ve done more community service
@ShawnLooch Welcome!
@fprosk Same, I’m weak there. Most of the stuff I do (tutoring etc.) doesn’t yield volunteer hours. Hopefully I can explain that if I have to interview.
If only going on Reddit counted as service…
Did anyone get the email that their application is incomplete because of test scores? The only test scores I’m sending in are my October SAT scores, so I’m assuming that’s why it is incomplete. Anyone else?
@orjioke33 - Same here. I am sending in my September ACT scores, and it says incomplete because of test scores.
S’s app also says November 2. His application has been complete and “under review” for a few weeks now but the admissions site doesn’t say decisions will be released “by” January 9, but January 9, which makes it sound very specifically only on that day. How odd, but it would be fun to find out so much earlier than expected!.
Okay, so on my buzzport, there is a section that says AP scores aren’t shown via this application…does anyone know what this means? Its under application details in buzzport
Biomed engineering and computer science as second major
Decisions are released in January because you have until first week of December to submit materials. Thats what they told me when I toured campus
What did you guys get for your sat scores? Also do u know anyone else who got in previously with low sat scores??
@Xboxgamergirl For my school, 10/10 people with >2000 were accepted, and 10/18 with <2000 were accepted (4 of which were <1800). 2000 seems to be that magic number for in-state.
@Hermit9, so I am in state with a 2160 sat (800 math), do you think that puts me in a good spot regarding standardized scores?
@Xboxgamergirl You’re pretty much guaranteed acceptance unless you have no ECs or your GPA is <3.0.
