@valodik Yes, you have to pay for Tuition and Fees, but you also have to pay for room and board(food). If you have a scholarship that pays 100% of tuition, you still need to pay the $16K (more or less) for room and food, etc.
Does anybody know when financial aid information will be released?
Did you guys who are admitted receive a email of newsletter? It says the admit rate is 23%, whereas last year as US news reports their admission rate was 32%. That’s really a huge leap of competitiveness from 32% and 23%…

@zheye1218
Here are the admit rates for the last few years. This info is available on GT’s website. In general your observation is correct: GT’s has become significantly competitive in last couple of years.
Admit rate for 2017: 23%
Admit rate for 2016: 26%
Admit rate for 2015: 32%
Admit rate for 2014: 33%
Admit rate for 2013: 41%
Admit rate for 2012: 55%
US News Report may be reporting 2015 data since 2016 data may not have been available when they published the article in September 2016. The official admit statistics that US News relies on (for example the Common Data Set information) don’t come until later, so they US reports tend to lag.
@bernie12
Agreed with your comments/observations. “Selectivity” can be gamed through a number of methods. You can search on the web for article on how North Eastern Univ gamed ranking system to improve its US News Rank!
Does anyone have a gt2021 groupme link?

We just went for a visit for admits. They said 25 % acceptance rate overall, but OOS’s acceptance rate was 15%.
Decision: deferred, accepted.
I applied for fall EA, was then deferred. So I emailed the admissions team and let them know tech was my number one school and that if I was accepted I would plan to attend in the fall, or even the summer. Which is definitely what I believe helped me get in to summer session!! And no, I do not have any family that goes to tech. So the acceptance is not conditional. I want to give hope to applicants applying to the class of 2022- my stats are not as exceptional as others- but I still got in!!!
Applied Major- BME
SAT- 1920
ACT- 31
GPA- 95
AP’s- took 8 AP’s. Only passed 2 exams. 4 on Lang, 3 on AP world. 1 on AP Calc lol. No subject testing.
Extra curriculars- generic honor society clubs.
Played no sports. Was not a captain of a club.
Had no special awards.
What really set me apart in my eyes was my essay and my hobbies. I love to babysit. I am also a lifeguard. I take care of my grandmother very often (she has Alzheimer’s). I worked in a law firm.
I submitted my application the day it opened- no one proofread my essay. My two short answer questions were terrible. I wrote my essay on Alzheimer’s. I’m not sure how I got in, but I am proud that I did. Don’t let other people’s stats scare you away from applying!!
do you mind saying where your residence is and what your ethnicity is?
I’m just really anxious and I pray I get off the waitlist…
Anyone got in from the wait list so far?? (other than @lydia5279 )
Lydia confirmed she was accepted after being deferred. I don’t believe she was on the waitlist.
I just posted that Tech sent out an admissions update to counselors (I am one) and that offers from the waitlist will be minimal this year. Tech exceed their yield (which means more students said yes than they anticipated) so there are not many if any spots open to offer from the waitlist.
Thanks for the update @itsv ,as sad as it is. I am also on the waitlist (architecture major). Has anyone on the waitlist heard back/ any new info for waitlisted students? Thanks!
