***Georgia Tech Class of 2022 EA Applicant Thread***

Thought I could get this started with the deadline coming up soon. Feel free to post anything related to GA Tech and the EA admissions.

yay finally

Can someone link me to the data from last year where they said how many EA applicants got accepted, deferred, and denied? I remember viewing it a while back but I can’t find it now.

From 14 Jan 2017 news release: "As of noon, 4,380 high school students have a chance to be Yellow Jackets next fall. Georgia Tech offered Early Action admission today to another group of highly qualified students from around the state of Georgia, the U.S., and the world.

This year, 15,715 applied for Early Action admission, an increase of about 1,200 from last year’s early round. The admit rate for this round is 28 percent overall — 49 percent for Georgia students and 21 percent for non-residents."

Things may look different this year. The Georgia Institute of Technology will offer automatic acceptance to all Georgia high school valedictorians and salutatorians under a new program that goes into effect with 2018’s graduating class. The initiative applies to students who graduate at the top of their class from any accredited Georgia public or private high school with 50 or more graduates. It is designed to increase exposure and access to Georgia Tech for the state’s most prepared students.

would a 770 Math 2 and 660 Bio score on Subjects tests
help, hurt, or do nothing to my chances of admission?(applying to Biomedical Engineering, and Scheller)

The 770 Math 2 score means youre in the top 67 percentile, which is decent but not that great. For bio, I cannot give you a percentile because I do not know if you took the Bio M or Bio E subject test. Look it up, and see what percentile youre in. I am pretty sure the 660 Bio score would hurt your application more than help it. The math 2 score is up to you.

By the way, when is the latest to get my ACT Scores officially submitted? I believe it is Dec. 1 for EA, but I am still scared.

The document deadline was Dec.1, so I’m assuming that includes test scores. There’s no reason to not send them now though.

By the way, how much do essays matter for GATech? My academics are pretty good:
4.0 UW GPA
35 ACT
800 SAT Math II, 800 Sat Bio E
USAJMO qualifier

But I’m really bad at writing essays and I’m pretty sure they sounded boring and generic when I submitted my app.

I heard from my councelor that they arent as important as grades

Can someone check my chance threads to see if I have a good chance? Thanks so much

From Gatech admission twitter: Early Action update for #gt22. 17,700~ apps. (+18% over LY & exceeds total apps for class that entered 2013.)

@Darkshadow1020 , according to the GaTech web site, you don’t need to submit official test score until later:

“You may self-report standardized test scores on your application as a temporary place holder for official scores allowing us to get a head start on review of your file. We will consider self-reported scores listed on your application testing section only, as we are not able to accept self-reported scores via email, fax or the postal service. If you are admitted and choose to enroll at Georgia Tech, you will be required to submit official test scores.”

What are my chances OOS for a non-engineering major (Physics)? Early action, good essays, 34 ACT (superscored), ~3.9 GPA, 7 APs in high school (Calc AB, Physics C Mechanics and Spanish this year), and a couple good recs and EC’s.

Also anyone have an idea of when they send out admissions decisions?

Did anyone else submit on 10/15? If so, what date does your GTech Portal show?

@CSinPA 10/16

Have any of you guys gotten your buzzport login yet

Yes, but what does the buzzport do? It’s pretty much empty.

@bogeyorpar You need it to fill out stuff for financial aid. If you don’t mind me asking, when did you get it and when did you apply?

My son checked yesterday and the link to setup buzzport showed up. Setting up the account was easy, but nothing inside, not even a link for financial aid.
