@franceence out of state acceptance rate was 14 percent, compared to almost 40 for in state, deferral rates were about the same
Rejected OOS Male Engineering 33ACT 3.87/4.0 UW Congrats to everyone accepted and good luck to those defered!
Does anyone know what it means if you have the application checklist below the decision letter?
I don’t think it means anything. I think everyone has one.
Can we join the class of 2023 Facebook group even if we haven’t committed to attending yet?
To clarify on stamps’ / presidential stuff, I just got an email (generic “congrats on getting in!”) sayings stamps semifinalists will be announced on Monday at 9AM. best of luck to all and friendly reminder of how college decisions don’t really define anything in your life.
where did you see deferral stats?
they do tho…
Looks like you were right on the money haha. Do you have any idea what they’d be looking for in the deferral form? Is seeing how interested a student is by deferring them a common practice by colleges?
where did you see deferral stats

@KWSoCal “We are surprised.”
The admit rates last year were 22% overall and 18% for STEM (eng and CS).
That means this year the STEM admit rate will be ~16%. That’s getting into Cornell like numbers.
we haven’t checked portal yet. but honestly its crazy how all of you great kids with the most amazing nearly perfect stats don’t get into all the schools you apply to. what more could you have done? are there that many kids that are BETTER than 1550-1580 SAT and 35+ ACT and 4.0 UW plus EC’s and sports? I guess today there are just too many “nearly perfect/perfect high school graduates”. Crazy times these are
@4everdefer it was a tweet from the admissions office.
OOS son got deferred, CS. 4.0 weighted GPA, SAT 1560/ACT 35, rank 1. tech is getting tougher to get in now.
Isn’t this a year where they also offered auto-admit for the vals and sals of all Ga. high schools? I seem to remember that being announced about a year ago. This might make in-state acceptances less predictable–unless you are the val or sal. depending how many applied.
@Greymeer She’s in the top one percent of the pool, no matter what stats you choose to look at, so, yes, we are surprised that GT deferred her.
Daughter was accepted, ME. Great scores, tons of AP score, top 2% of her class, leadership, extra curricular, volunteering. Compeleted a summer internship with Medical Device company and manufactured implants for foot and ankle. Can run CC mill and is learning Master Cam. And it doesn’t hurt her mother is Mechanical Engineer and has had her around a shop floor from the age of 8.
