Last yearr 20% were offered pathways program.

If the acceptance letter does not mention any major or school into which student is accepted, does that mean that student is accepted into the major they applied?

6APs - Phys 1 &2, Chem, Calc BC, APUSH, APCS, all 5
National Merit Semifinalist
Decent EC’s, good essays, good letter of rec
Honestly, I think that since I’ve legacy and people from my school don’t typically matriculate at GT even if accepted, they just gave me the conditional transfer pathway as yield protection. But maybe I’m just too salty.

Hey, I was deferred and am wondering whether deferred students still eligible for merit-based scholarships, honors program, etc.?
ACCEPTED Computer Science as an Asian INTL

@naturespirit congratulations and keep coding. My son has probably used your mod. ?
Son accepted, but a little out of the mold (other than test scores). I hope this encourages some, that you don’t need a long list of EC’s and 10 AP’s
OOS math major.
Homeschooler, small city in NC (not being from RDU or CLT might have helped).
ACT 35 (36 math), SAT’s 800 Math 2/Physics.
Great essays (I think), prob great recs.
3 AP’s last year, but subjectively “harder” ones - calc BC, Physics C Mech, Eng Lang (5/5/4);
3 AP’s now - Eng Lit, Physics C E/M, Comp Sci (prob not a “harder” one).
Eagle Scout and Senior Patrol leader with 6 yr commitment to Scouts, extensive record of church service, but other than that, really just hobbies.
Some math competitions; did OK but not stellar.
No major awards, other than Eagle Scout.
Not seeking FA; don’t know if that matters for OOS GT applicants.
Applying to College of Sci instead of eng or comp sci might have helped. I’d love to see parsed test score and admit stats by College, like Carnegie-Mellon reports.
We weren’t certain due to homeschool “wild card” and EC’s being deep but not wide. Other than test scores, recs, and prob essays, I think if anything pushed him over, it was math prowess and passion. He got in to Canada/USA Mathcamp (one of his recs is from college math prof he met there), and has “self-learned” LOTS of math. Took abstract algebra at our local university this fall, got highest class average. He has a clear vision and passion for what he wants to do (academic/theoretical math), and consistently communicated it; his Common App personal statement was about this. He has just been “who he is” and does what he loves, and didn’t really think about “building a resumé” until last August.
Also, I did some math.
Based on report of 20,289 EA applicants, 39.6% GA and 14% OOS admit rates, and 4000 total admits:
2206 admits are OOS, 1794 are in state.
I wonder if int’l applicant numbers have continued growing at rate greater than GA or US OOS. It would be interesting to see parsed data for GA, OOS and international, re: test scores, eventual yield rate, and FA, as well as for eng vs. other majors.
@mjinnc I wonder if that data is parsed at least from last year on the class profile 2022? that might be a data point worth looking at. from your math do you know what % of the 20289 applicants were GA or OOS? Also congrats to DS!!!
so i got an email today saying they need official test scores, but on the website it says i only need to report those if I choose to enroll…does anyone know the deadline for submitting those scores?
@game7214 if you were accepted and choose to enroll, submit when you pay your commitment fee (i.e., by May 1st)
@brokenjavascript My daughter got the offer for the Arts & Sciences Pathway, too. Do you know how many are typically offered that? We were very excited for this option. Definitely lots to consider now!
Decision: Accepted!

@ncmom19 it’s a test.
Many high stats kids are rejected/deferred because they will have lots of offers. And didn’t express adequate knowledge or interest in the college via their essays. If your son really wants to attend Tech, he will go the extra mile and fill out the update form with a thoughtful relevant essay. Being deferred is their way of saying, “you would be successful here, but we are unsure that you are a good fit.”
@greymeer Thanks for the advice! He will definitely fill out the update form. I know all top colleges get more great applicants than they can accept and that they’re considering not just individuals but the composition of a class in many different ways. OOS tuition without merit aid will make GA Tech tough/out of reach but we will see what happens.
