@kli586 unfortunately not, Stamps is extremely competitive (1.6% semifinalist rate, 0.2% acceptance at GIT) so they don’t feel the need to look at deferred/regular students
@LoyolaMD91 there’s definitely a possibility, but the chances are so slim that you shouldn’t consider
What I would recommend (and am doing myself) is making your decision but waiting till April 30th to commit, all the while knowing you’ll likely go to said school
If any college wants to give money, you’ll know by then
In the meantime, apply to local scholarships… won’t be huge but you can definitely put a dent in that check
@LoyalaMD91 we are in the same boat. OOS mechanical engineering. Not a stamps finalist. Not sure what other merit options there might be, but hopeful.
I was accepted out of state!
Accepted with Stamps Semifinalist. It says 325 were accepted for stamps semifinalist out of about 20k. Invited for interview to become a Stamps Finalist.
Are there any Stamps Scholars who know what the interview is like and what they ask?

@garamxmasala Thanks! Looks Stamps is for OOS only, correct? It is free for in-state students anyway, right? Could that be the reason that a lot in-states apply regular as money is not an issue for them? ~$50K per year for us OOS even if we get in.
No, instate is not free. The HOPE pays about 82% of tuition at GT. The Zell Miller pays 100% of tuition. All the remaining expenses (housing, meal plans, books and other mandatory fees) are not covered by the instate scholarships.
And instate students are eligible for the stamps president’s scholarship
in my stamp email it says both in and out of state were considered for stamps but no regular decision will be considered
Correct— since the semi finalists are invited to campus for their interviews on February 9, there is no way RD candidates can be considered. Besides, only applications received by Oct 15 (EA) are considered. its quite clear on their website.
@jym626 Yea. However for me they didn’t invite me to campus for my interview on feb 9, it says they will do a video interview for me. It says they will narrow to 100 finalists, then invite those 100 finalists to a second round of interviews to narrow to 40. Sounds pretty intense.
Yep. In my email though it says there is an email Feb 9 which will narrow it to 100 and then on March 8-9 they will invite the 100 to Georgia Tech to participate in school activities and another round of interviews to narrow it to 40.
@jym626
GT is not known for its financial aid. They have some scholarships with the largest ones being stamps and provost (forty students selected for in state tuition). Outside of that there is not much. Also, many students take longer than four years to graduate.
Last year I did a long posts about scholarships at GT. My DD just graduated in December so it is based on her experience. I have to do an update and will do so later this week. As a poster mentioned above, many students take longer to graduate than 4 actual years, but with my DD and her roommates, it was due to co-ops and internships where they earned nice salaries which helped pay for college. We are middle class and through a combination of merit scholarships ranging from $500 to $5K, my DD’s earnings from co-op and internships and our contributions, she was able to graduate with no loans.
With respect to Stamps, many communities will do local interviews in the upcoming weeks. Others have posted on this forum about their Stamps interview experiences. I have had at least one student go through the process. Stamps is for both in-state and OOS. Two of my DD’s roommates were Stamps and it is much more than just a scholarship; it also provides for trips abroad and special experiences. About two years ago one of my students made it to the finalilst round, she was not selected but received a $20K per year merit scholarship which took the sting off of not being selected.
