@GoodGrief16 I know I’m just one person, but that wasn’t the case for me. I’m OOS with perfect stats in regards to ACT, APs, SATIIs, and GPA. I have never visited tech or shown any form of demonstrated interest. My why GT essay showed that I really knew close to nothing about the school. Worst essay I have ever written. They still accepted me anyway and I was really surprised. Something tells me that they didn’t even read my why tech essay.

My OOS DD, a current GT freshman, received a department merit scholarship but we were not notified until almost the end of January, after her UNC EA acceptance came out. Notification by email to all emails on file, parents and student! She had not accepted her admission before the offer. Her scholarship was not and still is NOT listed amongst those on the GT website. My dd did show strong interest, spent day there touring - wrote strong essays with precisely why the program in CS would meet her interests (threads program in CS which is pretty unique). I think perhaps, for CS, she did not have ECs (beyond typical math nhs, math league…) types of involvement - doing research with a prof, intel, robotics competition… All water under the bridge at this pt but info for next yrs candidates.
@“sh.elite” , it’s not a hard and fast rule, of course. There may have been other factors though that made you an attractive candidate, despite the absence of apparent interest. In my OOS high stats daughter’s case, she had geographic diversity going for her and she was not applying for a popular major. She did not show strong interest either (past frequently checking the portal) until the Stamps interview stage.

i felt EXTREMELY confident in my essays, which i think are what got me in. i never EVER feel confident in my writing but those essays were the best things i’ve ever written in my life.
i’ve been accepted and committed to Emory University for Early Decision, so sadly, i will not be attending georgia tech

i got stamps but no provost
Does GT only offer any financial aid to OOS students? I tried the net calculator. I got $0 aid if I chose to live off-campus regardless of family income (even with minimum). If I choose to live on-campus, then it shows about $7K aid even with $99K+ income. I am a bit confused as this $99K+ does not have upper limit. I wonder where the $7K comes from and is it guaranteed?
Hi all, I was accepted, OOS CS, but didn’t get Stamps Semifinalist. I got an email a day later saying I’d be considered as an alternate, did anyone else get this? I sent an abbreviated LOCI as well as filling out the form they sent to confirm my spot as an alternate.
Can I send LOCI and supplement
I was hesitant, but I figure this helps next years applicants.

Theres a scholarship called Provost which you should get notification within a few days. i dont think theres any other major ones.

DD got an email today about Dean’s Scholarship for Scheller School of Business. Said was a semi finalist and had dates for interviews.
I know they give out 10 of these Scheller Dean’s scholarships each year. Anyone know how many people are brought in for the interview process?
