A tweet from admissions says the overall admit rate was 18.8% for 36936 applications. That means 6940 were offered admission. 14.5% OOS, 37.7% instate. Yield is typically 40% so the class size will be ~2800.
Overall admissions to engineering would be ~16%.
Last year 8000 were admitted out of 35000 applications.
@americandreampls and others I found where you can check on what program you were accepted in as we were unsure for my son’s as well. You need to have set up your BuzzPort account and go to the Accepted Freshman tab. There you will find a link under the Financial Aid New section called My Requirements and Eligibility, click that and at the top of the page there will be an admissions tab. Click the tab and it will take you to an Admissions Menu where you can click on Application Status. Then you can click on your fall application which will bring up all your info including the major you were accepted into. There is probably and easier way to that page but that was the path we found.
Denied again.
I applied EA and was deferred, but I was accepted today!
Out of state
ACT: 34 (36 E, 36 R, 32 M, 31 S)

does anyone know when financial aid comes out? also does anyone know if you can get a scholarship if you were deferred the first time around?
My son was rejected for EE. His stats are decent. I guess his essay is not that good. Maybe his teacher recommendation is not good neither. A typical Chinese boy who spend too much time on studying and EC but just little time on college application.
SAT: 1560; SAT II: Math II 800, Physics 800
Weighted GPA: 4.69, UW GPA: 4.0. AP Chem (5), AP English 11 (4), AP Calc BC (5), AP Comp Sci (5), AP Physics 1?(5)

Does anyone’s acceptance letter actually mentions accepted to College of Engineering or your specific engineering major?
@racereer How do you set up a buzzport account? Thx
Edit: Never mind, I got it. Thanks!
I just got waitlisted and I was about to accept the waitlist, but there was a question about my high school graduation year. I graduated a year ago; however, 2019 is the only year that is present in the portal. What shall I choose?
Is accepting to be waitlisted at Georgia Tech binding? As in, if an applicant were to get accepted off the waitlist do they have to attend the university or are they still given the chance to accept and deny enrollment?
Nothing’s binding. You can chose to go to some other college instead of gatech
Does Gatech have a serious grade deflation?
@markcheng , can’t believe he was rejected with such a strong profile.
@AnyDad there wasn’t anything on my sons either. If you look at post #42 I give instructions on how to check on BuzzPort what major they were accepted for.
Denied

Deferred EA and accepted now!
OOS - Biomedical Engineering

Congrats to all accepted. Those who didn’t get in, wish you all good luck. Better things may be waiting for you.
Thanks @racereer I followed the steps and saw the major.
sophomore year pathway offer college of sciences OOS 1330 sat
Son denied today - stats GPA 4.65, ACT 35, SAT 1580, multiple APs, Swim team, multiple years of Jazz, Wind Ensemble, Pit Orchestra, Pep Band, Spanish Honor Society, work history with 4-physician office (specifically for data migration), strong recommendations and essays. Very disappointed. Just scratching my head on this one as I don’t know what else he could have done : (
@janyon Wow those are some pretty amazing stats for denial. Was that for CS? I have noticed that CS seems to be extremely difficult to get into for the major tech schools.
