I got offers from both Georgia Tech and Duke. I am interested in engineering. But have not decided on which specific field yet. Georgia Tech ranks higher in engineering and Duke ranks higher in general. Georgia Tech is bigger in size. I would like to know how these factors will impact the quality of education and job search after graduation. I would appeciate if anyone can give me any suggestions.

If the question is whether or not you can get a job after graduation, then a Georgia Tech degree won’t deter you from any opportunities. Although yes Duke may have a bigger name than Tech does, but Tech graduates get a lot of recognition in the job market for our curriculum and our research.
Also, it depends on what you are looking for. Yes, we are bigger, but at the same time many students don’t really feel like it’s that huge. We have great resources being in the city of Atlanta. Duke, in comparison, is in a more rural surrounding but is very beautiful.
Also it would depend on what engineering program you’re looking into (ME, IE, BME, etc).

Do you mind sharing your Stat? My D wants to apply both the school next year.

As someone that went to both schools, the big difference is where you want to land after graduation. Tech has more influence in the general manufacturing and engineering positions, Duke gets more recruiters from non-traditional engineering industries (consulting, banking, business, etc).

In terms of quality of education, I thought both were good. There’s quite a difference living in the UNC-Ch / Duke / NCSU triangle and in Downtown Atlanta, though.
