I have been admitted to both Georgia Tech and Purdue but at Purdue I have been offered a place in the Honors College. I am really split between the two colleges and I would like recommendations in making a decision. I want to do industrial engineering at both and though I have a nice scholarship from Purdue, money is of no matter. I have visited both campuses and each feels really nice as well.
These are all just my opinion and your comments can sway them:
Advantages of Purdue:
College Feel
Student Life (Not much of a party person but still)
Honors College (I will be in the top few percent of students there so it will be easier to land jobs, internships, etc.)
Everyone Seems Really Nice
More research oriented
Many more students receiving scientific recognition for their work
Disadvantages of Purdue:
Weather
Reputation (Maybe? - Not sure)
Advantages of Georgia Tech:
Reputation
Access to airport to come home (I am out of state for both)
More opportunities available for jobs, co-ops, internships, etc.
Weather
Not necessarily higher quality of education, but educational standards which are more rigorously enforced to ensure success
Ranking
Industrial engineering is more corporate world oriented. I do not want to go into manufacturing as much as corporate strategy.
Disadvantages of Georgia Tech:
Everyone Seems Really Stuck Up and arrogant
The student life seems kind of odd to me. I am a person who finds fun in just relaxing with a few friends and hanging out: watching a movie, playing video games, playing table tennis, playing intramural sports or just getting some friends and playing a game of basketball etc. I am not a party person: I do not drink or do drugs, etc.
I am really really confused. Anything to help sway my decision would be great. Thank you!
