Can someone please help me decide between the two. I am an international undergrad applicant from India and intend to pursue aerospace engineering. Although my first consideration is academic rigor (the more the better!) but I would also like to know more about life at both these universities. It is hard to sit 10,000 km away and decide!!! any help is appreciated.
Thnx

Georgia Tech…rather ugly campus, not-so-great dorms, and a lot more males than females.

Purdue…better looking campus, better dorms, and a more even ratio of males to females…

both great at engineering.

Georgia Tech is in Atlanta which is a dynamic major city in the sun belt. Purdue is in West Lafayette which is a small city in the rust belt (a swath of the US that had built its economy in the industrial age and has suffered economically with the demise of its core industries). The two locations couldn’t be much more different.

hmmmm… i see. thanks

ok, now that we know that life at georgia tech may not be as good as it might be at Purdue, but isn’t it worth it? i mean, given the reputation of Georgia Tech and perhaps its high ranking, would it be worth going to Georgia Tech, even if it means some adjustments and not so great student life?

Student life is what you make of it. Studying engineering at either school will entail more work than the average college experience. I went to GT decades ago and enjoyed the collegiate sports, all of the entertainment options of Atlanta, and even met my wife (although she was a student at a different college in Atlanta). Also, I grew up in the midwest and really enjoyed the milder weather that Atlanta offered.

@ cltdad - thankyou. you have made it so much easier for me to choose. :)
