Hey so I recently got my Georgia tech decision - rejected and I was quite shocked as I actually thought I had a really good chance. I applied for Aerospace Engineering and my scores are:
SAT 1: V-600, M-730
SAT 2: Math 2-750, Physics-750
GPA:3.8
I did quite a few extra curricular activities and put a lot of effort into my admissions essay. I heard that GT puts a lot of emphasis on essays so … any specific reason why I got down right rejected ?
It may be your SAT overall score. The average for Ga Tech this year was over 2100. Have you been accepted to any other schools?
Yeah a few - Rose-Hulman Institute of technology, CU-Boulder, UT-Austin, and UIUC. What about you?
Waitlisted at UIUC, rej. at UT-Austin, waitlisted Ga Tech, Rej. MIT, Accepted Purdue, Accepted UCSD.
32 ACT; highest subject scores: 34M, 34E, 34R, 28S, 31W
3.75 GPA/4.0. 4.5/5.0
200+ hours of community service
Couple of clubs and EC’s
Accepted at Uni of Tennessee but that’s my safety that I won’t be attending lol
Well, I was accepted to Georgia Tech (thank GOD!!) but I had a lower sat score which was 1920 combined (1310 math and reading) and 720s and up on my subject tests. I think that because I am a girl and a minority, I might had had a higher chance of getting in. If you are male or not a minority then your chances might have been small.
Hmm, btw any idea on the transfer process to Georgia tech? (just wondering) like the courses to take for engineering transfer and like how to max my chances ?
There’s no way to figure out what went wrong. It’s unhealthy to overanalyze it. So much of the decision is arbitrary. I’m sure things will work out for you wherever you end up!
