I am thinking about transferring to GT in the fall. The current school I attend grades on the +/- scale and I am wondering if GT would re-calculate my GPA on their own scale(without +/-'s). Also, if I meet 3.3 GPA for a major while taking 35 credit hours in one year, what are my chances for admission?

Thank you

Your +/- grades will be converted into pure grades. So if you have an A-, that’s an A, and a B+ is a B.

Are you in-state?

If you are in-state and choosing any major other than ISyE, Chemical and Bio E, BME, and MechE, you have a good shot with a 3.3. If you have a 3.3 and you’re in-state choosing one of the aforementioned majors, you will just meet the minimum requirement but you should have a good chance at getting admitted.

If you’re out of state, you need a 3.5 for ISyE, ChemE, MechE, and BME, and 3.3 for all others. If you just barely meet these requirements, your chances are still good but not guaranteed.

If you don’t meet all of the minimum course reqs for your major, it doesn’t matter if you have a 4.0 at MIT, they won’t consider you for transfer admission.

Thank you so much for the information. Yes I am in-state.

PM me what school you’re at/major/GPA/classes you’re taking and I might be able to give you more info.

I am transferring to Tech next fall (obviously not guaranteed, but very likely) and am basically the unofficial GT transfer adviser at my school, lol.
