@threeofakind @priya2015 @qow100 My daughter is also likely deciding between Georgia Tech and UMD ( in state) but for Biomedical Engineering. Wondering if any of you have made a decision and why. We are visiting Tech next week for 2nd time but probably leaning towards UMD since in state and both a university and engineering scholarship. We are dealing with many of the same comparisons that some of you mentioned.
@CU1986 We visited UMD for admitted students day on March 30 …loved the CS break out session and the ACES LLP session. @summitt …what did your son think of UMD?Have you guys made a decision. Here we are still not sure…as @threeofakind said…its really hard to walk away from GT. Son has applied for honors at GT and now thinking if he gets in …it will be GT if not UMD…so have to wait one more week
@CU1986 we are going back down to GT before making final decision. She has been in contact with current students in the program to get a better feel. We are leaning towards GT because after some research it really is the best program and the opportunities afterwards are great. The BME department has a self guided tour you might want to check out while you’re down there. @Priya2015, the tour was ok, you didn’t miss much. They do have excellent tour online.
my son committed to UMD…the trip to Gtech actually helped make the decision. He got into the SMART LLP…was not too impressed by what he heard of the program.I think the most important factor was actually realizing how far away from home it was.
